Happy New Year to All !!!

The Gow Family would like to wish all of you
a Safe and Happy New Year.

2012 Comes to an End

The Gow Family would like to thank all of you for your help in making 2012 a great year. It takes a lot of work to make Capital City Speedway work and we could not have kept it open without your support. Support for the track comes from a number of different people. Volunteers, advertisers, staff, drivers, car owners, friends, family and from our great fans. We need all of you to keep things going at Capital City Speedway and I hope we can count on your support to keep things going in 2013.

In 2012, we continued to make progress on a number of different areas and a number of different venues. This year we focused on the re-opening of the Drag Strip and by the support we saw over the year, we can expect even bigger car counts and support for Drag Racing at CCS in 2013. We saw an increase in our spectator count for  Stock Car racing, compared to 2011, and we saw some growth for Drifting. Hopefully, that progress will continue, and 2013 will be our best year yet. It has been a bumpy ride over the last two years, but dare I say that the road will be a smoother one moving forward? One thing I do know is that if we see continued support from our CCS supporters and grow it some more for next year, we are bound to be successful. What that means to all of us is that CCS will remain open and continue to offer a variety of motor sports activities to all.

In 2013, our energies will be directed on making the Drag Strip even better. We have a number of initiatives planned to make it more professional and functional. We are currently working with the City on some zoning issues that need to be cleaned up and once those are done, we hope to re-open the Stittsville Flea Market at CCS. We have a long way to go yet to make that happen, but we are trying hard to bring another venue to our facility. Our goal  is to continue adding days, or nights where we have something going on. This is the only way we can continue to operate this facility and keep it profitable. If we can do that, then it bodes well for all of us.

Thank you for being a part of Capital City Speedway, and we hope to see you in 2013.

Merry Christmas to All.

From the Gow Family to our extended family of Drivers, Advertisers, Staff and Fans - We wish all of you a safe and very Merry Christmas.

Up to Speed

Although the track is closed for the season, our work here never really is done. We have started working on several projects for the 2013 season that will keep us busy until Opening Night.

Stock Car:

We have received favourable reviews of our new Thunder Car rules. Several teams have made mention that they are happy with the new rule package and believe we will have a very competitive field in 2013. The size of that field is yet to be determined, but I hope we will see some new cars come on board as a result of those changes. We know of one at this point, but let me know of any new drivers that plan on coming out. Things can get slow from a news perspective, so if you have some news you would like to pass along, please send it over. The key to the success of the Thunder Car field will be in getting back all of last years cars, and building on that number. We hope to see all of our Thunder Cars from last year make it back in 2013.

We have been having a number of conversations with other new drivers coming out in Four for Fun and Mini Stock. Again if we can get back our 2012 cars, with some new additions, will make 2013 one of the best years yet. We will continue to work with these individuals, and any new ones to keep Stock Car Racing in Ottawa going. For us to be successful, we do need new stock car drivers, so if you were thinking about it, give me a call and we can set you on the path to being a new driver with us.

I have talked to some old CCS drivers who will be making CCS there home for 2013. I will bring you up to date when they are ready to announce their plans for 2013.

Flea Market:

We are actively working with the City to clean up some zoning issues so we can make the Flea Market a viable business in 2013. I love this concept and am very eager to see it happen this summer. I was a regular at the old one on Hazeldean road, and I think we can revive an old Ottawa tradition for some of those flea market fans, and make some new ones as well.

Drag Track:

We will be having a Fund Raiser in February to help raise money to replace our stolen wire from the track. Pam is working on the details, and once we have them we will pass them along to you. Thanks to Pam and friends for all of their work on making this happen. We have a couple of new Drag Racers that have already signed up for our new Saturday Night Shoot Out Series. One Junior and one Senior. As mentioned earlier, if we can get enough drag cars signed up we can expand on the classes offered. We will look at a Street Car class, and perhaps a Motorcycle class. Capital City Speedway is here for you and we want this to work for all of us. So talk to your friends and if you want us to expand our current classes and we can get enough drivers signed up for them, it will happen.

Drifting:

Drifting will once again be a part of CCS in 2013. We hope to see all of our drivers back from last year and we hope to see a few new faces as well. We will be working on this program in the early new year and see if we can grow this for 2013.

2013 will be a pivotal year for Capital City Speedway. If you want CCS to continue to offer a place to play, a place to enjoy watching motor sports, or just a place to be on a Wednesday,Thursday, Friday, Saturday and hopefully a Sunday, then we will need all of your support to make this happen.

Watch for our new program in 2013 - " Friends of Capital City Speedway "

We have not had a lot of changes made to our Nostalgia Room over the last two years and we hope to change that for 2013. If you have some old CCS memorabilia around and would like to donate it or lend it to us for 2013, than please let me know.

I look forward to seeing all of you at the races in 2013.

CCS Drags Saturday Night Shootout Series Coming in 2013

Capital City Drags is pleased to announce that we will have a 5 race Championship Point Series for 2013. The Saturday Night Shootout Series tentative schedule is as follows: May 25th, June 22nd, July13th, August 17th and September 14th. It will be a best of four, meaning it is ok if you miss a night or want to drop your worst night. It will be an open competition with no delay box use. You will have to buy a $ 25.00 membership for registration in this series to have your points accounted for. This series was put together for our Drag Racers and will have nightly payouts. We are looking at $50.00 buy in, 1 $ 50.00 buy back, with $ 500.00 payout per night. For this to happen we will need to have over 30 cars registered for this series, and 24 entries per event. Event payouts will be based on car counts, but we will need to see support for this to even get off the ground.

If we can get enough interest, we will look at having a seperate Street Car Class Championship Series as well.

Our Saturday Night Shootout Series will include Junior Dragsters, and they will have their own point championships. Again, depending upon the support for this class, will determine event payouts and championship payouts as well.

I hope to announce that we will have a Drag meeting sometime in January so we can get together and discuss the direction of the track and to find out where you want us to go for our weekly events and our Saturday Night Shootout Series. I look forward to seeing you all there.

2013 Rules Now Posted

It has been a while in the making, but the 2013 Rules have been posted. The new Thunder Car rules are a part of this rule package, so for the people waiting for those can now proceed with their changes for the 2013 season. We will be adding to the Thunder Car rules shortly with the new spec shock.

The changes to the Thunder Car rules have been broadened to allow the new tube chassis's and some built motor rule changes have been made to give the guys who use them, a bit more ponies, and changes to give them more tourque. We will have a higher standard weight in 2013 to help make this class a little more even from car to car. These changes will hopefully make this class more competitive this year, and hopefully we will have a higher car count.

Thunder Car News

I wanted to clarify some issues that seem to be out there in the rumour mill. The rumour is the changes we are making will make some current Thunder Cars obsolete. Well, in fact the very opposite is true. The changes we are making will make our older Thunder Cars more competitive with the new class of Thunder Car.

There seems to be a misconception about the new rule allowing Metric tube Chassis cars in the class. There is no competitive advantage with this new rule change. Both cars, original chassis cars and tube chassis cars, have the same measurements and both weigh about the same. The only advantage with a tube chassis car will come when it is time to repair the frame. This rule was made as moving forward the GM original chassis will in fact cost you more to make it race ready, and will be harder to get. By allowing the metric tube chassis car allows our prospective Thunder Car drivers to purchase a wider array of cars available on the market today. This ultimately will reduce the cost of getting involved with the Thunder car class.

We have made changes to the built motor option to make the motors closer to the horsepower and torque output of the 602 crate. The changes from a cost perspective are small to update the built motor to compete fairly with the crate motor option. If you cannot afford a new crate motor, then you can make some minor changes to your built motor and be able to compete with them. This will again bring the cost down to compete in the class.

The weight for all cars will be increased to a minimum of  3200 lbs, with penalties for performance upgrades. This means that our top runners from last year will have to add on average over 150lbs from last year. This will bring up the competitiveness of the heavier cars we had out last year.

The rules have been rewritten and are going through a final reading before being released. We should have those by the end of the week.

These changes were made to make our Thunder class more competitive for all drivers, reducing the cost for someone to get a Thunder Car, and to make the racing more enjoyable for our drivers and fans alike.

Please feel free to give me a call if you have any questions on the new rules.

Capital City Speedway Races Again in 2013

We are pleased to announce that the Drummond Family and the Gow Family have reached an agreement on terms for the 2013 season. What that means for all of us is that Capital City Speedway will be the place to be if you are a motor sports fan in 2013. We have lots of new plans and ideas for the new season and we hope you will be a part of it. Again this year, we hope to expand on the services offered and are working on bringing back some good old fashioned Sunday shopping. Over the last several years the track has struggled financially, but with our expansion plans for this year, we hope to make the facility profitable once again. If we can make this happen, hopefully, we can all enjoy the facility for years to come.

Stock Car Program:

We are making some changes this year to how things were done to improve on the excitement factor for our Wednesday Night Stock Car show. In order to increase the racing factor, in 2013 we will be doing our feature line ups based on a reverse of points. What this means is that the points leaders will start the feature at the back and have to move up through the rest of the field in order to get up front and win. This will create more passing on the track and hopefully put on a better show for our great fans.

To help our fans get back out to the track every week, there will be no ticket price increases in 2013.

We should see new cars in every class and as long as we do not loose any of our current racers, we should see better car counts in every class. The Vintage Modifieds will be back 5 times throughout the season, and we could not be happier with them joining us once again. Thanks to Paul Billings for making that all come together once again. The Dinardo Karts will be back 5 times in 2013. Frank Dinardo put this program together late last season and with some time to develop it, we should see a much higher Kart count this year. If we can get a higher Kart count, look out for some really cool racing. We will have 5 enduro's this year again, and we look forward to seeing an even higher car count than we did last year. On average, we had over 35 cars for each enduro last year, and I expect even better numbers for 2013. Every year, we try and make Capital City Speedway a better place to be and 2013 will be even better than last year. If you are interested in being part of the team this year, whether it is as an advertiser, or looking to start your racing career, than please give me a call at 613-723-7223.

Drift Program:

We will be Drifting on Thursday Nights , and we hope to see all of our Drifters back in 2013. We look forward to having a higher car count this year, and expect some really great Drift Nights. We are expecting to hold one or two Amateur Drift Competitions this year and are hoping for a great turnout for these events.

Drag Program:

The recent theft of our lighting wiring has set us back, but with the much appreciated support from the Drag racing community we hope to back up and running in early spring. We will be expanding on our Drag Program in 2013, as the support for this venue in 2012, showed us that the re opening of the Drag Strip was a big hit. The support for the Drag Strip continued to grow until late in the summer, and by then it was time to close it down. We hope to start where we left off last year, and grow from there. We will be introducing a four race Championship series, along with a four race Junior division Championship series. We will also be looking at extending our timing system to include the 1000 foot mark, as well as the 1/8 mile. These will give some of our Street Cars a little more length, and a little more speed. Watch for our 4 Cylinder Tuner Car Shootout. I am very excited about the number of different things that we will offer at the Drag Strip this year. Stay tuned for the 2013 schedule and schedule of events.

Summer Slam 2013:

The Monster Trucks will not be back in 2013, but we have added a Demolition Derby to the schedule instead. We are working on the details now and should post in the near future about the rules and purse (s).

The 2013 Stock Car Schedule is now posted and we do not expect any changes as of now. Opening Night will be  May 22, 2013.

Now that we are back up and running we hope to bring you all of the new stories and the keep you up to date on the old ones. If you have any news or stories you would like to share please send them over to me at todd@gowproperties.ca and we can get them up for you. New car, new advertiser, new driver ? - Let us know.

On a personal note - I would like to thank all of those individuals and businesses that have come forward with offers of help and financial donations to get the Drag Strip back up and running. I could not do it without you, and for that, I thank you.

See you at the races in 2013.

Theft at Capital City Speedway

Dear Capital City Speedway Fans and Drivers,
I was out at the track today and someone has stolen our wiring for the Drag Strip lighting. The wiring for the lighting of the track was stripped clean from front to back. The cost of the scrap wiring will be small in regards to the replacement cost which will run over several thousands of dollars. I will not be able to find out who did this without your help. Please spread the word about what happenened, and let everyone know that someone will be looking to sell it, or scrap it for a few dollars. The Drag Strip helps fund the overall operation, and we will not be able to stay open without that source of income. So, yes it ultimately will affect you as well, so please if you hear anything or know someone who does, please let me know. I have a number of folks who would like to have a chat with him, including myself. Thanks for your help in this matter.

Up to Speed

The Gow Family and the Drummond Family are continuing the negotiations for the 2013 lease term for Capital City Speedway. We should have news later next week about about our discussions, and will announce the outcome when we have made those final.

Even though we do not have a confirmed deal we are plugging along with preparations for next year. We should have the final Thunder Car rules out late next week, but what we do know now is this.

1.The full METRIC tube chassis offered by a number of companies will be allowed in 2013.
2. Front load bolts will be allowed in 2013.
3. Standard Transmissions will be allowed in 2013 with a weight penalty. That final weight has not been agreed upon yet, but will be 50 to 75 lbs.
4. The holley 4412 will be the only carb to be run.
5. Weights will be changed to 50/50 front to back and 55 left/45 right side.
6. Cascar chassis's with a Camaro clip will not be allowed. Original Camaro chassis's will still be allowed.
7.Weight credits for a 602 crate will be removed.
8. The existing car weight limit will be changed from its current limit to a new weight. Those are yet to be determined.
9. Changes will be made to the built motor rules. We are looking at allowing the aluminum intake and cam shaft changes. These changes will make the built motors similar to the current 602 crate rules.

With the changes to the Thunder car rules, we have seen a new excitement level in the Thunder class, and we expect to see a revived car count in that class. There is one fellow who is on his way to Vermont now to pick up his new Thunder Car for the 2013 season. These changes are about inclusion rather than exclusion, and the ability to introduce new cars into the class. These changes open the door to make it easier to buy Thunder cars and get them out to Capital City Speedway. I think this is a step in the right direction to see a bigger field of cars and competitors in this class as well as making it more exciting to racers and our fans alike.

Our Drag Strip was a great success in 2012 and things are getting better each and every week with news of new Drag Cars coming out to CCS next year. I have had numerous discussions over the last week about Drag Guys who still didn't know about us, or still though the track was too short for their cars. After out chat about our facility, we will see them out next year. If Drag racing is your thing, CCS will be the place to be in 2013. Plans are under way to make the Drag facility even better next year with proposed staging lanes, better lighting and the timing system extended to include the 1000 foot mark as well as the 1/8. Watch for our new 4 night Drag Competition Championship Series, as well as our new JR Dragster Series as well. Track Champions will be named in each division in 2013. Make sure you are part of this new and exciting series.

Looking for something to do on Sunday's? Stay tuned for developing news on the return of an old Stittsville favorite past time.

If you own a business and want to be a part of all of the exciting things happenning at Capital City Speedway in 2013, then you should become an advertiser at the track. Packages start as low as  $500.00. If you have nay interest in doing so, then please call Todd Gopw at 613-723-7223. We would be happy to talk to you about all of the benefits to you, and your company.

Remember, Capital City Speedway will be the place to be in 2013. It doesn't matter if you are a Stock Car Fan, a Drifting Fan, or a Drag Strip Fan - at CCS we have them all.

We hope to see you at the Races in 2013.

Thunder Car Drivers Meeting - This week

As we prepare for the 2013 season, we will be looking at the rules for the Thunder Class and the changes we and our drivers would like to make moving forward. The Ontario Stock Car Association, which we are a part of, is trying to align the Thunder Car rules in Ontario. These may play a part in what we do for 2013, in an attempt to make Thunder Car racing in Ontario on the same rules.

We will hold a Thunder Car Drivers meeting this Thursday October 18 at Biagio's at 1394 Richmond Road. ( Formerly Peters Pantry ) It is located next to the Lincoln Heights shopping mall on Carling.
Dinner will be at 6:00 pm if you care to join us, with the meeting starting at 7:00pm.

The discussion will revolve around where Capital City Speedway needs to go from a  rules standpoint to make Thunder Car racing the best it can be. We also hope to see a higher car count in this class by opening up the rules to allow some new cars to qualify for the field.

I hope to see all Thunder Car drivers, and prospective Thunder Car drivers at the meeting to make sure we get everyone's imput on where we need to go in 2013.

Capital City Speedway - A Year in Review

Thanks go out to all of our racers, advertisers and spectators who came to Capital City Speedway in 2012. The weather was great all season until Summer Slam, and the racing was great. We had some ups and downs with car counts this year and we hope to see all classes increase in size for 2013.

The addition of the Vintage Modifieds was a great success and we hope to have them back next year as well. Our discussions with them should start soon so we can get them booked in early as part of our show. The Dinardo's Kart Class will be back next year with a bigger field as we work on that group now and get the word out early about how much fun the Kart guys and gals had. Frank Dinardo has already signed on as the class sponsor for that class, and we look forward to seeing them again next year.

We had new Champions in every class this year, with Justin Holtom wining the Late Model class, Todd Musker taking home the Thunder Class, Chris MacDonald in Mini Stock, Kevin Foisy in Legends and Jason Moss in Four for Fun. This year we saw some Championships won on the last race of the season and we hope to see close races next year as well. We are working on getting new cars in every field for next year, with some new cars already spoken for that we should see out in 2013.

Drag Racing was introduced back to Capital City Speedway this year with the help of a number of individuals and without their help it would not have been possible. Thanks go to Pam and Twitch, Scott Boyen, and Casey.  Thanks go to Shawn Kerr and Kerr Contracting for picking up the Title Rights and CP Tire for their advertising package. Thanks go out to Sport Systems Canada for their help in making the new Bleachers a reality. We would like to see growth in our advertiser's for the Strip and we will start on that project soon. If you are looking to become a sponsor of the Drag Strip, please give us a call.

The re-opening of the Drag Strip was a great success in 2012 and we hope to build on that significantly for 2013. It looks like we will be introducing a Junior Dragster Class this year and we hope to see a number of cars out for that class this year.We are working on the 2013 Drag Racing schedule now and look for some exciting Drag Nights to come. My son, Connor, is ready to go now as he awaits the 2013 season with his 1979 Corvette. Shawn Kerr had his son out this weekend in his new Junior Dragster and from what I was told, he is ready now for the season to start. Early word is that Shawn Kerr is already working on getting a new 900HP motor for his car. We had a number of tire kickers out this year at the strip checking out the facilities and the strip. A
number of them have Drag Cars and we fully expect to see them out next year as we got nothing but great reviews.

We have already started on projects for next year to make the Drag Strip even better. We will have the timing system expanded to include the 1/8 and the 1000 foot mark to appeal to a broader audience. With the amount of shut down space we have we expect to see alot of the Street Cars running the 1000 compared to the 1/8. Capital City Drags will be the place to be next year if you are a Drag Car Fan, or Owner.

The Drift Night will once again play a part in the 2013 season. We hope to see a growth in our car count as we try and get this class up and running. We saw car counts up and down over the season, and we hope to make sure that we have a good number of cars each and every Drift Night to put on a good show for our spectators. Our Drift competitions never really took off this year but we will see what 2013 has in store for us and hopefully we will see a few competitions at least.

We are looking at a number of other ideas, to make sure we make as much use of the property as we can to keep Capital City Speedway open for our many fans and racers. Stay tuned for further announcements as they happen.

On a final note, please make sure that when you are looking for a service or product, you make use of our Business Directory and help support our Advertisers who help us bring weekly racing to the Ottawa Area. Don';t forget to tell them that you are using their company because of their support for Capital City Speedway.

I look forward to seeing all of you again at Capital City Speedway in 2013.

Drag Racing - Bracket Competition this Sunday

Our Bracket Event which was rained out last Sunday has been rescheduled for this Sunday. We have moved up the start time from 12 to 11:00 a.m so we can get everyone home early for some Thanksgiving Dinner. We hope to run from 11:00 to 4:00 pm. We expect this to be our final Drag Event for the season, unless we hear back from enough people to warrant opening longer. The $ 500.00 to win and $ 100 for second will still be up for grabs, so come on out and win it. We have been trying to give it away for a month now and I am tired of looking at it. We will run time trials for the first part of the day so you will have time to get one if you do not have one already. We will run grudge races and other races through the day between the competitions runs, so you should have plenty of track time even if you lose out in a early round.
Buy Backs - I would love to get some feedback in regards to buy backs. We can do it three ways. First round buyback only or 1 buyback per car at any time, or no buybacks at all. Let me know your thoughts on how you want this competition to work.
I hope to see all of you back out this Sunday.

Banquet tickets are now on sale for the CCS Banquet on November 3 at the Travelodge Hotel. Cost will be $ 60.00 and if you plan on attending I need you to make your reservations now, and buy your tickets. We have two weeks left to confirm our numbers and we do have a limited number of tickets we can sell.

Get your group together, or just you and your wife and let us know. Tables can be purchased in groups of 8 to 10.

Capital City Drags Open this Sunday

Mother Nature keeps throwing a wrench into our plans, but it appears we will have a half decent day tomorrow, so we will run the Drag Strip tomorrow, Sunday September 23 from 1 to 5.

We will try and run tomorrow from 1 to 5 pm for those of you you need a fix. The track is still wet but should dry by tomorrow if we do not have any more rain. We will be on for tomorrow at this point unless you hear any different from us. We hope to see you tomorrow. We are looking forward to our Drag Event coming up next weekend. We hope to have our new bleachers in by then, and will accommodate seating up to 100. You may have heard me say this before, but we will continue to improve on the facilities until you and I are happy with Capital City Drags. We have a long way to go to make it where I will be happy with it, but with your support I know we can get it done. I want to thank Shawn Kerr, Paul Luciano, Pam and Twitch, Scott and Casey for all of their time and commitment to making this facility the best it can be. I want to thank one of the drag strip newest sponsors - Sport Systems Canada for their contribution in making the purchase of our bleachers possible. I want to thank all of our participants over the last couple of months, because without you we would not be able to do what we do. I hope to see all of you next week, and some of you tomorrow, for those who can make it out.

Drag Race Weekend has been rescheduled

The forecast is not good for this weekend - Rain, Rain and Rain. The  Drag weekend will be cancelled and has been rescheduled to next weekend. The 28th, 29th and 30th. with the same times. Summer Slam and the 2012 Season Ends on a High Note

It is hard to believe that the Stock Car Season has come to an end. It seems only yesterday that we were painting the stands and getting ready for our 51st season. As it is with all good things, they must come to an end. The season ended on a high note with  new champions named in each car class. The Monster Trucks were out and put on a show for all those who attended. The Vintage Modifieds always put on a great show and Saturday's race was what the fans wanted - an exciting race, and the Vintage Mod's didn't disappoint. We will be talking with them again shortly about scheduling them next year to hopefully see them multiple times again in 2013.

The twin Late Model races were some of the better races seen all year. Justin Holtom ended up winning both features and the overall night, making him the Late Model Summer Slam Champion. With these wins and the points associated with them, made Justin Holtom the Capital City Speedway Late Model Champion for 2012.

The Thunder car field was lower than expected, but in the end Greg Ogilvie took the checkered flag and the Summer Slam Title for 2012. Congratulations to Todd Musker who took home the 2012 Thunder Car Championship after having a great 2012 season.

The Legend field put on a great show and when the dust had settled we saw a few new faces in the winners corner. AS this was a National Qualifier Race, we had winners in each class. The Masters winner was Bob Sugrue, and winners of the Semi Pro and Pro drivers class were the Haufe brothers, Matt and Brad.

The Mini Stock field had a few new faces in the group this week and by far the best car count of the day.Chris MacDonald from Security Connection, took home the feature win and the Mini Stock Championship for 2012.

Jason Moss showed why he will be ready for Mini Stock next year, by winning the Summer Slam Feature and the Four for Fun Championship. Rules state that the Champion of this class must move up to mini stock if they win the Championship. Look for Jason Moss to make some waves in the Mini Stock class next year. We are looking for new Four for Fun cars to come out in 2013, as we will loose two drivers next year as AJ Dickie has already made the move up with his new car.

The 100 Lap enduro finished off the night with Dave Quinton taking home another 4 cylinder win in his car. Gilles Melanson took home his first win with his car in the 8 cylinder field.

Thanks to all of you who attended this race, and all of you who came to the track this season. We cannot do this without your support and for that, I thank you. Mark your calender for Opening Night 2013 which will be held on May 29th, 2013.

I hope to see you at the races in 2013.

Summer Slam TOMORROW!!

Please join us tomorrow, Sunday September 9th for our largest show of the season. The Monster Trucks are on their way down and all of our racers are ready to put on a great show. Although one day late, the weather will cooperate with us so we can put our season ending race on.

There still are some great battles in store in a couple of classes to determine who will be class champions. The Vintage Modifieds always put on a great show, along with Monster Trucks - Higher Education and Black Stallion. To finish off our season and night, will be a 100 Lap Enduro.

Remember to bring a sweater and coat as it will be a little cooler tomorrow and as the sun goes down on the season and night, the temperature will drop. We want you to enjoy all of the show and do not want you to get cold. Remember to bring a cushion or blanket to sit on, as the seats may still be a little damp. We do have Capital City Seat cushions on sale for only $ 5.00. Most important is to bring cash as we do not have Interact or Debit.

I hope to see you at the races tomorrow.

Interstate Battery NIght was Electric

Thanks go out to James Locke and his team over at Interstate Batteries for being the nightly sponsor on Wednesday. Thanks go out to Larry Way and Wicked Garage for bringing their car show series to CCS. WE had over 50 unique cars on display, and on the track for the intermission show. It was easy to see that everyone had a good time on Wednesday.

As we get to the end of the season, things in the Championship races have turned up a notch with a number of different drivers still have a shot at winning.

Justin Holtom was sitting in the cat bird seat after Steve Monro and Sean Kennedy got tangled up and were sent to the back. Justin moved up from third and into the pole position, and on the restart jumped into the lead and never looked back. Steve Monro got tangled up with Tim Kirby and ended up in the wall with substantial damage. I talked to Steve today and the car needs to be re clipped, but he will be back on Wednesday with his back up car. Steve said it was one of those racing accidents that happen when you decide to race, and no hard feelings towards anyone. A true racer and a gentleman.

Justin Moss continued his quest for the Four for Fun Championship with another win. Pops MacDonald was ahead early but couldn't get away from Jason, and then gave up the lead to Jason.

Legends this week had a new winner and that was last years Champion, Matt Haufe. Dave Riopelle and Brian Saunders were out front for a good part of the race until they got together and were sent to the back. Matt Haufe restarted in a great spot and criused to his first Feature win of the year.

Karl Thibideau in his #49 Ford Fusion captured his second win of the year with a strong performance. Greg Ogilvie and Todd Musker battled hard for most of the race in second and third, giving Karol the opportunity to stay in front and take the checkered flag.

Chris MacDonald from Security Connection took home another strong win in  his Dodge Neon, and increases his chance for his first Championship.

Only 1 more regular season race and that is next Wednesday and is our Back to School Night sponsored by Strongo. We hope to see you next week at the races.

Capital City Drags has matched that and now we have a total of $ 300.00 up for grabs this Friday. $ 250.00 goes to fast pass of the night and $ 50.00 will be for best reaction time. Scott Boyen of Extreme Paintball has added another $ 50.00 for the fastest 4 cylinder pass. Thanks to these companies who have stepped up and thrown some money in the pot. We hope to see you on Friday. Drags start at 7:00 pm. Don't forget to bring your lawn chair as we do not have our stands in place. Competitors are $ 20.00 and Spectators are $ 5.00

Wednesday Night was a Great Night.

Thanks to all of our fans who came out last Wednesday. I have to say it was one of the better nights all season. We had Fan Appreciation Night, thanks to all of our drivers who came out at intermission and met with our fans. We had 2 Canadian Tire NASCAR Series cars on display, as well as 2 drivers who jumped in behind the wheel of two of our local Late Models. Thanks go to DJ Kennington and to Kerry Micks for stopping in and putting thier cars on display for us. Thanks got to Al Dickie and Ken Baird for providing those Late Model rides for our guests. We had the Eastern Ontario Modifieds who put on a great show and had one of the closest finishes this year. They will be back September 8th for Summer Slam.

Sean Kennedy took home the checkered flag for the Late Models and moved closer to points leader Steve Munro.

Greg Ogilvie was back in the winners circle after missing a week, and showed us that he will still be in the chase for a Championship this year.

Kevin Foisy took another win in his Legend Car. Kevin made it very close with a last lap pass on Brian Saunders. Brian had lead a number of laps showing us he will be a fixture up front for a very long time. Brian has only had a limited number of races in his Legend car and we expect Brian to be a future winner.

Casey Cavanagh took home the Mini Stock win as he drove it hard to stay up front. Chris MacDonald and Nolan Gould battled most of the race for second place which allowed Casey time to get ahead and stay there.

Jason Moss grabbed another checkered flag in the Four for Fun class.

Join us next week for  Interstate Batteries Night with the Wicked Garage Car Show Series
