Drifting NIght moved to Thursdays Only.

There has been a little confusion and rumours about the Drifting Nights. Please note that we will be drifting on Thursday Nights sponsored by Trackwerks. The Saturday Night Drift practices have been removed from the schedule for the balance of the season due to low turnouts.

So if you want to drift or watch drifting, please come out on Thursday Nights.

Golf Ball Throw for CHEO Tomorrow

This Wednesday Night is Dymon Self Storage Night for CHEO. We are asking all spectators to bring a  "Toonie for the Tots" to help raise money for CHEO. All proceeds from the 50/50 draw will go to CHEO as well. Another fund raising event will be our Golf Ball toss. Golf balls will be sold for $ 5.00 and will give you a chance to win over $ 2,000.00 in cash and prizes. At intermission, you will be given an opportunity to toss your golf ball at our flag stick. If you get your ball in the hole you could win all of the cash and prizes awarded. If you are the only ball in the cup you will win it all. If we have more than 1 ball in the hole we will remove one ball from the cup and award all prizes to that ball number . So come on out on Wednesday and have some fun while raising money for CHEO.

A Big Thanks to our Advertisers who have donated gifts and money to make our Golf Ball throw the best it can be.

Shawn Kerr Contracting "Digs Up" $ 500.00 for our Bracket Race Special

Shawn Kerr from Shawn Kerr Contracting has "Dug Up" another $ 500.00 for Capital City Drags and  our "All Out" Bracket Race August 10 and 11th.  Capital City Drags has thrown in another
$ 100.00 for second place. Our prize pool is now $ 600.00 and hopefully will grow between now and the actual event.

Please note that this event is a bracket style race which means any car, truck or motorcycle can enter. The race is based on a handicap system and your dial in time. What this means is if you are consistent in your time throughout the night, you can win. It is not about the fastest car, it is about the most consistent.

Come on out and give your vehicle of choice and try, and you never now, it may be you leaving with the $ 500.00.

Come on out any Friday Night and give it a try. At Capital City Drags, it is all about fun.

Thank you to all who attended CCS for one of our events last week

Last week was a busy one starting with our Stock Car track on Wednesday. We had a great fan turnout, and the racing was great. Brandon Oakley grabbed his first checkered flag this season with a great outside run to get past AJ Dickie. Kyle Baker got back in the winners circle with a strong outing with his Mini stock, and Kevin Foisy took the Legend Feature after missing the winners circle last week. Todd Musker took his Thunder Car to the finish Line with a good run, and Sean Kennedy took home the honours in the Late Model field.

Friday Night saw some great Drag Cars come out and try their luck for the $ 100.00 for the quickest time of the night. The rail took home the money posting a quick 1/8 mile pass. The track gets more rubber down every week and new drivers as well. Come on out on Friday's and give your car a go.

Saturday Nights's Drift Competition was cancelled as a result of low car count and turned into a practice night. All fans got in for $ 5.00 and the night turned out to be a lot of fun with some great drifting by the cars that were there.

We hope to see you out again at one of our nights at Capital City Speedway.

Friday Night Drags - Saturday Night Drift Competition

Lots of things going on at the track this weekend. Tonight we will be running the Drag Races from 7:00 pm until 10:45 pm. Bring your car down tonight and let er rip on the 1/8 mile track. Tonight we have a special price of only $ 20.00 to run your car and only $ 5.00 to watch. Bring your lawn chair and have a great time on or off the track.

Saturday Night we have our Drift Competition starting at 7:00 pm with qualifying starting around 6:00 pm. If you haven't seen drifting before then this is the one you want to see. A little slower pace than stock car racing, but entertaining none the less. After the Drift Competition, we will have some drifting displays as the guys will go through every tire they brought to the track. Lots of fun and smiles all around.

We hope to see you sometime this weekend at the races.

Capital City Drags

If you have not been down to catch one of our Drag Races on Friday Nights you missed a good one. With $ 300.00 to the fast time of the night, brought out a few nice Drag cars. Vince Thompson took home the money with a 6.23 at 107.7 mph. Rob Graveline came close with a 6.39 in his Opel but it was not enough.

Cory Beauchamp took home the $ 100.00 for the quickest 4 cylinder time with a 8.944 in the 1/8.

Friday Nights are fun for any car and for any driver. The track is open to anyone who wants to come down and give the 1/8 mile track a run.

Vintage Modifieds this Wednesday.

Don't forget to come down on Wednesday Night to catch a glimpse of the Vintage Modifieds. The Modifieds will put on a great show as they try to adjust to pavement instead of dirt. If you have seen them run at Brockville, you know they put on a great show and expect even more on the asphalt. This will be one of the nights you will not want to miss.

George Drummond Memorial Night was Memorable.

Congratulations to all of our Inductees into the Hall of Fame. In the builders class, Wayne Young and Brian " Motor Mouth" Goudge and in the Drivers class, Daytona Dave Lee and Tom Boucher were inducted on Wednesday Night.

The Late Model winner this week was Tim Kirby after Sean Kennedy and Steve Munro were sent to the back after a little tangle. Tim Kirby has pole and didn't look back for his first feature win this year.

Greg Ogilvie took his pole position start to a checkered flag with Karol Thibideau hot on his heels for 25 laps.

The lengthy Legend feature saw a few wrecks and an oil down on the track. When all was said and done Dave Riopelle managed to squek out a win over Chris Zieran. Chris and Dave went back and forth the last few laps with Dave being in the right spot come checkered flag time.

Casey Cavanagh took his first Mini Stock win of the season with Kyle Baker hot on his heels for the entire race, but could not manage to get by.

Aj Dickie took another feature win in the Four for Fun class.

Suspensions Issued in the Legends Class

As a result of the actions by several of the Legends Class drivers we have issued the following suspensions.

The Windsor Team consisting of Chad and Radar Windsor have been suspended for the season, and possibly longer. I will not allow the actions of a few individuals to disrupt or impede on the progress we have made over the last year. The actions by this team go against everything I am trying to do at CCS. As a result I will not allow this team to return to my facility. Our Legends class runs much smoother and happier when this team is not at the facility and that is the way I will keep it. I hope now our Legends class will provide a great show to all of our Legends Class fans.

The # 22 Legends team of Brent Egan consisting of Brent Egan, Jason Delorme and Tyler Egan has been suspended for 1 week.

CCS on Rogers TV Tonight

Don't forget to tune in tonight from 9:00 pm to 11:00 for a Rogers Sports Exclusive. Capital City Speedway on Rogers, showcasing our July 18th race.

Drag Racing Tonight

When you try to do something right, sometimes people take notice, and Greg from Pynacker Doors " The Racers Choice ", and Gerald Dennique from Sandpoint Mobile Pressure Wash of Braeside have done just that. Pynacker Doors, "The Racers Choice " for Garage Door Sales and Service has now added another $ 100.00 to the pot for the fastest car of the night. Sandpoint Mobile Pressure Wash has jumped on the bandwagon, and has added another $ 50.00 as well. Thanks go out to both of these great companies and friends of CCS for their kind donations. That brings us up to $ 300.00 for the quickest car of the night. Think you have the fastest car in town? There is now $ 300.00 if you are.

We are happy to announce that Shawn Kerr has stepped up to the table again and has put up some more prize money for Friday Night. Shawn has added another $ 100.00 as prize money for the 4 cylinder cars. Capital City Speedway has put in another $ 50.00 on top. We now have two purses for Friday Night - $ 300.00 to win for the fast car of the night and another $ 150.00 for the fast 4 cylinder car of the night. Thanks to all of our contributors for coming on board with us for this Friday Night. Rumour has it that we will have a few of the big boys coming out to take a run at the $ 300.00. Regardless, it should be a great night at Capital City Drag Racing.

The cost to run tonight will be $ 20.00 and $ 5.00 for spectators.

Our seating area is not in, so if you are coming out tonight bring your lawn chair. Drummond's Gas will be on site tonight for all of your fuel requirements. He has ultra 94 and VP racing fuel.

In early 2009 the Company underwent big changes which included the opening of a full retail store front and a new website. Since that day we've have moved into a more central locations which as served us well thus far. After almost 4 years we still love what we do and will always go the extra mile to make sure our customers get what they want.

NO Drift Practice Tonight !!

There will be no Drift Practice tonight due to Drift Fest at St. Eustace.

Capital City Inducts Four New Members into the Hall of Fame

Capital City Speedway is pleased to induct four new members into the Capital City Speedway Hall this coming Wednesday Night. On George Drummond Memorial Night will will be inducting two members into the Drivers Category and two members into the Builders Category.

The two individuals being inducting into the Builders Category this year are:

The first Inductee has been one of our longest supporters of the track, and  has been associated with this track for about as long as I have been around. Needless to say, a very long time. He has been a sponsor of the track for too many years to count, and has been a great help to me and my family during our tenure at CCS. I am pleased to announce that Mr. Wayne Young, the owner of Young's Speed Shop, will be inducted into the Capital City Speedway Hall of Fame.

The second Inductee has been the voice of Capital City Speedway since the early 1980's and started with Dave Booth. He then continued throughout the Penny Bell years, took some time off during the Ottodrome days, was back during the Arnie Malcolm era, missed one year and decided to come out of retirement to help the Gow Family return CCS to its glory days. We could not have hired a better man for the job and are happy to have him with CCS once again. I am pleased to announce that Mr. Brian "Motor Mouth" Goudge will be inducted into the Capital City Speedway Hall of Fame.

The two individuals being inducted into the Drivers Category this year are:

The first Inductee raced for many years at CCS and around a number of tracks. He has been recognized as one of the area's best drivers. He started driving for friend John Stacey of Stagra Automotive in 1971 and continued that relationship for 16 years. The first car they ran was a 1957 Chev and then went on to race Open Wheel Modifieds, and then to Late Models.  He won numerous races in Canada and the U.S. He was said to be married to a race car first, had a gift for driving a race car, and a great fabricator. I am pleased to announce that Daytona Dave Lee will be inducted into the Capital City Speedway Hall of Fame.

The second Inductee raced a number of years at CCS back in the 60's and was very successful doing so. In fact he has a number of pictures and posters already in our Nostalgia Room, and had a relationship with one of our current sponsors today, Myers Motors. He drove during the 60's in a Modified Sportsman car and called CCS his home for many years. I am pleased to announce that Tom Boucher will be inducted into the Capital City Speedway Hall of Fame.

Please join us this Wednesday for the presentation ceremonies.

CCS and the Ottawa Invaders "Team Up" for 2012

CCS and the Ottawa Invaders Football have teamed up for 2012. Join CCS and Dawg FM tonight at Carleton University to see Ottawa play Toronto. Sounds good already doesn't it. CCS will be on hand along with Thunder Cat and the Dawg from 101.9 The Dawg FM at the game. Game Time is 7:00 pm, but get there a little early to see some of our great race cars. All children who attend the game tonight will receive a free ticket to attend Capital City Speedway.

Two of Ottawa’s premier grass roots sports organizations are partnering for a cross-promotional relationship that will grow the awareness of local sports in the city.

The Ottawa Invaders, one of the top semi-pro football teams in Canada, have entered into a relationship with Capital City Speedway.

Invaders head coach Ken Evraire and Capital City Speedway President Todd Gow both expressed excitement over the synergy between the two local sports franchises, noting a strong correlation between football and stock car racing fans throughout North America.

“Football and stock car racing are both about speed, competition and excitement,” said Evraire. “Working together and being able to promote each other in the city will only help us both as we offer a high caliber local sports and entertainment product to the people of Ottawa.”

The relationship kicks off this weekend as the Invaders host the unbeaten Toronto Titans Saturday night at Carleton University in what experts call a showdown between the two top semi-pro football teams in Canada. Capital City Speedway will be on hand for the game, as fans will get a chance to see some of the stock cars and meet the drivers. Throughout the season, a number of Ottawa Invaders players will be attending Capital City Speedway race nights, and will even get behind the wheel to experience a new level of speed. Capital City Speedway, located off Hwy 7 near Carleton Place, has an action-packed schedule every Wednesday night.

Drag Night a Great Success.

Thanks to everyone who came out tonight. No glitches through the entire night. Track was sprayed with Lane 7 compound which is a better product than VHT. By the end of the night you could not walk on the concrete and pavement without getting sticky feet. Times continually came down as the night went on, and more rubber was laid down as well. Had some great drag cars out and track conditions will be even better for next Friday Night. Our competitor made some comments last week making fun of us, well our track will get better and better and guess what - it is very smooth. We already have expansion plans in the next few weeks for our timing system. It will be expanded to include the 1000 foot time, as we do have enough room and shut down for most cars. As mentioned, it is smooth right through the 1000 foot and shut down as well. At CCS you do not have to hold on tight after the 1/8th. So come on out next Friday Night and give us a try and see how you like it. For our upcoming bracket racing night August 10 and 11th, I promise no buy backs for me and my cars. We are looking at a purse for this event and it will be winner take all. We will let you know the purse amount in the next week or so.
Next Friday Night our title sponsor, Shawn Kerr Contracting, has put up $ 50.00 to the fastest car of the night and CCS will match that amount for a total of $ 100.00.

Are you the fastest? Come on out then and collect your $ 100.00 bill.

See you next week.

Drag Strip Open Tonight

The Drag Strip construction is winding down as most of the major pieces are in place. It is there but we will continue to improve the look and grounds over the summer. The track is being flushed this afternoon to take off all of the dust and debris from the track and concrete pad. The timing system will be in place tonight and operational. We will be spraying the concrete and the first several yards of the track to get the cars to stick. We hope all of the bugs are out of the system tonight and all will run smoothly. Tonight is our first night with the system so please be patient with us as we continue the process of making things perfect for the drag cars. The track lines will be painted over the next week.

Tonight we have a discounted rate in effect for all cars and that is $ 20.00 and $ 5.00 for spectators. The seating area is not up yet, so please bring a lawn chair with you.

Town and Country Chrysler Night was a Big Smash

July 11th was our biggest night of the year and one our best this year. The fans came out, the stock cars came out and the enduro's cars totalled over 40. The weather was great and put that all together , it was a great night for everyone.

The Late Model winner was Sean Kennedy with Steve Munro on his bumper as they crossed the finish line.

The Thunder car winner was Greg Ogilvie with a strong second for Karol Thibideau.

The Legend winner was once again Kevin Foisy.

Mini Stock had a new winner this week. It was won by Cory Wilson. His first of the year, but if he can continue to run the way he did on Wednesday, we will see him again in the winners circle.

Aj Dickie continued his winning ways taking home another win. Look to see more weight added to that car next week.

The enduro had 41 cars start the race, the biggest we have seen in a long time. Paul Yendall aged 76 jumped into his enduro car for one last run before retirement. The racing was some of the best we have seen in a long time with plenty of wrecks all around. We managed to get in 87 laps before our noise curfew. We had a number of red flag conditions throughout the enduro race, taking away precious racing time, but safety of all of our drivers is our first concern.

On behalf of our 50/50 ticket buyers we were able to donate $ 595.00 to the Lanark Food Bank.

Thanks to everyone who made it out and we hope to see you again next week.

Drag Strip Finally Opens to Rave Reviews.

The Drag Strip opened last night and was a big hit. Even though we did not have the tree up and running we had some die hard fans and cars make it out to the track. It really was a fun night and everyone had a great time. We had everything on the track tonight. My son ran his Four for Fun car and couldn't stop smiling all night, then he took out the 300 with Mom and his sisters. I was out racing the Legend - man those are fast. I was King for a little while until I got spanked by Paul Luciano in his sweet Camaro. I raced Russell Drummond -Dodge to Dodge Pick up, although he was weighted down, as he was in the fuel truck. He wants a re match when he gets back out with his new Dodge Pick up. We had Jason Baker in his Jeep, smoking a cigarette as he went by. We had a Motorcycle, a Hummer, Aj Dickie in his Four for Fun car, Shawn Kerr came out in his Camaro and his friend in a built 72 Monte Carlo. Scotty ran the clean up truck and the Golf Cart down the strip, Dano ran the tow Truck. Matt Ackland and a few of the drift guys were down as well. It was one of those nights were everyone had a laugh or two and just had a good old time. We will have the timing system up for next week, as it is in now, and we are getting the software download tonight. We will also see some new fans coming out on Wednesday to see the stock car show. Make sure you come out next Friday Night and have a good time. Grand stands are not up yet so bring your lawn chair, or better yet bring a car to take down the strip. Remember the Drag Strip is all about fun and it is run what you brung. No pressure, just Fun. I haven't smiled that much in a longtime. Glass is half full again. Thanks go out to a number of people who helped us make it happen. The people who need to be thanked the most would be Jason Hodson for his help on the electrical and of course our good friends Scotty Boyen and Al Dickie  who were there helping me most of the time. A big thank you goes to Shawn Kerr for purchasing the Title Rights for the Drag Strip, and Paul Luciano for his sponsorship as well.

See you next Friday Night at the Drags.
