G. W Drummond Memorial Night the "BIGGEST" yet.

Thanks to the National Autism Society for being a big part of our night on Wednesday. I know we had some new people out for the very first time and a fun time was had by all. We hope to see some of you again this year.

Thanks to the Drummond Family for hosting our night and thank you for the extra heat money and feature payouts for the drivers. I am sure it was greatly appreciated by them.

Overall, we had the biggest spectator count of the season and thanks to all of you who came out and watched some great racing. We could not survive without all of coming each and every week and supporting Capital City Speedway. It certainly helps when the weather cooperates and there is no chance of rain in the forecast. This Wednesday looks like it will be another great night for racing, as it appears that Mother Nature will give us another great night for putting on a show.

Congratulations go to Steve Munro and Dave Booth who were inducted into the CCS Hall of Fame on Wednesday. Both of these people have contributed to CCS's success over the many years and are now recognized for playing their part in keeping local stock car racing alive in Ottawa.

With a full card or racing and 2 special feature races, it was a full night of racing. The Dinardo Karts where on hand with us and the Sportsman Modifieds as well.

The Late Model feature was won by Sean Kennedy, sponsored by Ottawa Rental Supply and Service, who seems to have set up his new car to his liking. Three weeks ago Sean was involved in a crash which destroyed his old car. Two weeks later he is back in the winners circle again. Compliments to him and his team for putting his racing program back together so quickly. That win brings Sean only three points back of Ken Baird who is our current points leader.

The Legends Class saw Kevin Foisy make the triple sweep of the heats and the feature win.

The Thunder class saw Spencer MacPherson back at CCS in the Dave Woods owned # 25 car. Spencer has taken over that ride for the balance of the season, and look for that car to make a steady progression to the front. Chris MacDonald, owner of Security Connection and the 03 Thunder car driver, has shown some promise in that car. Chris who was our Mini Stock Champion last year and made the move up this year, seems to be getting the feeling for that car as he lead a number of laps before giving up the lead. Keith Ridell improves each and every week and is excited now to finally be in the mix of things. Jessica Pasinetti ended up third in the feature, second was Todd Musker and Greg Ogilvie took the checkered. The Thunder class is getting better and better each and every week and I look forward to seeing what is going to happen this week. Todd Musker and Greg Ogilvie are now tied for top spot and should make for an interesting battle the rest of the way.

Mini Stock saw a few bang ups early on in the night, knocking some cars out of the feature race. Cory Wilson manage to stay clean and finish up the night with his first win of the season.

Brendon Scott took and early lead and never looked back to take the feature win in the Four for Fun.

In the Sportsman Modified class we saw Steve Billings take his second checkered flag of the season and seems to have his car dialed in for CCS. Watch for the Sportsman Modifieds making their third appearance of the year this Wednesday Night. We are expecting to see a few more cars this week as the class saw a busy 4 day dirt series race last week.

The Dinardo's Karts were with us again and always put on a neat show. Trevor French took the triple crown, winning both heat races and the feature.

This coming week we will have Dymon Self Storage Night and our annual CHEO Fundraiser Night. Please come on out and support CCS and CHEO. Please help us support CHEO by bringing a "Toonie for the Tots". We will once again be having our golf ball toss for CHEO. Buy a golf ball for $ 5.00 and at intermission we will have you throw your ball towards the hole. Get it in and you could win $ 250.00 cash. All proceeds from this event and cash donations will be donated to CHEO.

Join us tomorrow for G. Drummond Memorial Night

Tomorrow will be a great night for racing. Don't let the heat keep you away as it gets nice and cool at the track. The only thing hot tomorrow at the track will be the racing. We have a full schedule of classes including our special feature: The Vintage Modifieds. The Vintage Modifieds are always a crowd pleaser and make sure you do not miss them tomorrow.

The George Drummond Memorial Night is also our CCS Hall of Fame Induction ceremony, and local racer Steve Munro gets the award tomorrow night. Steve Munro from Carp has been a racer at CCS for, lets just say a decade or so, and is a great example of  what a stock car racer should be. Steve has a number of Championships under his belt and countless wins in numerous different classes. If you have ever been to CCS you know who Steve Munro is. Please come on out and welcome Steve Munro into the CCS Hall of Fame.

Paul Yendall, owner of Paul's Quality Auto's, a long time supporter of CCS will be bringing out a kids bike to give away tomorrow night. Come on out and bring your child with you and get a ticket to win. Thanks to Paul Yendall for his donation of the bike.

What a Week.

With the weather man finally helping us out and giving us a nice night of racing, it was nice to finally see some new faces in the stands this week. Our enduro racers were happy as well to see that they were not going to miss another race to rain this year.

The stock car racing was once again great this week with some exciting finishes. It was also good to see no big wrecks like the week before. Sean Kennedy wrote off his Late Model last week, but was back this week in a new Late Model. In the end there can be only one and that went to Justin Holtom, who took the win home for this night. Join us once again next week to see who will take home the flag and the points lead in the Late Model division.

Todd Musker took home the Thunder Car victory and continue to lead this class in points. It was good to see Keith Ridell out who seems to be making hue strides with his car. Keith was able to keep that car up front for a number of laps before the more experienced guys worked away at him. I spoke with Keith afterwards ans he was very happy with his and the cars progress and said that this was by far and away his most enjoyable night.

The Legend cars were light, but the weekly battle between Chris Zieran and Matt Haufe was a great one to watch. In the feature, Matt had taken the lead and Chris was hot on his tail. Chris made a smooth bump and run on Matt to take the lead and lead up until the last lap when Matt gave him back that same smooth bump and run to take the checkered flag.

The mini stock class was once again a great race, just as it has been all year long. The cars are so close in this class due to a H.P to weight ration which keeps things nice and tight. The little Honda that could, driven by Kyle Baker took the checkered this night. Who is it going to be next week? Come on out and see for yourself.

Brandon Scott took home the checker flag once again in the Four for Fun class, and seems to be running away with it this year. Lets see if Mike Attwell can arise his game this week and take the checkered away from him again.

Jessie Duguay took home the 4 cylinder class in the enduro and once again Todd Musker took home the 8 cylinder class. This was Todd Musker's second win of the season in the enduro, and I like to see new winners every week or every enduro, so, I have added a$ 50.00 bonus in the next enduro to the winner of the 8 cylinder class if they can beat Todd Musker. It must be a clean race - no taking him out. Todd Musker and 53 Colours has also put up $ 50.00 if anyone can come out and beat him as well. This makes the next enduro $ 350.00 to win the 8 cylinder class. Do you have what it takes it beat Todd Musker?  If you think you do, then bring your car out and show us what you got.

Join us next week for all of our regular classes along with the Vintage Modifeds.

CCS News

This Wednesday is the Lanark Food Bank Food raiser, and Town and Country Chrysler Night. Don't forget to bring non perishable food with you to the track. There is a ten pound food challenge put forth, and if everyone can do that in the pits alone, we should be able to help some people in need.

Speaking of being in need, we need to see some fans come out this Wednesday. The weather has hurt our attendance numbers significantly this year, and tomorrow will once again be one of those iffy days. Remember, it normally doesn't rain at the track, just everywhere else. Come on out and enjoy our second enduro of the season, along with our regular classes.

If you were at CCS last week, you saw Sean Kennedy and the # 14 Late Model hit the wall hard. After further inspection, that car is a write off and will not be back with us. The good news is that a new car was purchased by that team and a new # 14 Late Model will be back with us tomorrow night. Thanks go to Sean Kenndy, Ottawa Rental Supply and Service, and his crew for coming back without missing a week.

A few weeks ago, Mosport Speedway announced that it will be closing its stock car track mid season. Mosport will be ceasing its stock car racing program effective July 17. Kawartha Speedway closed its stock car program at the end of the 2012 season. The reason behind these closings was at the end of the day they were losing money with their programs. Stock Car racing programs cost a lot of money to keep running and are very hard to keep profitable. CCS has lost money the last three years in operation, and early numbers this year don't look promising either for 2013.  If you want to continue to see stock car racing stay alive in the Ottawa area, you need to support it. All you need to do is to come see us on Wednesday Nights and have some fun. If you have a business, then help us help you and become an advertiser with us. Work with a group of people?  Then why not make a company night out and bring your group to CCS.

If all of our weekly fans come out, and bring another friend with them, Capital City Speedway will be around for many years to come.

Stittsville Trailers Night was a Big Bang.

Thanks go to Orville and Trevor Hartwick from Stittsville Trailers for once again playing a role in the continued success of Capital City Speedway. Stittsville Trailers has long been a part of CCS and we thank them for being a part again in 2013. Remember , if you are looking for a trailer, trailer accessories, or looking for some equipment or golf cart equipment, then please give them a call.

The racing continued to be great at CCS once again this week, with some great battles for the lead. The Late Model class saw three different winners on the night with Justin Holtom and Steve Munro taking the heat wins, and Ken Baird finally picking up his first win of the season. Ken looked like the sure winner of the feature race until a late caution flag brought the field back together. With everyone racing for the win, there was a big crash coming out of corner 4, and Sean Kennedy ended up going into the wall, with Brian Copp running into the back of him. Chris Ferguson ended up in the in field with a broken rotor. Ken held off on the restart for a green, white, checkered finish. It appears that Sean Kennedy's car will be a write off, but don't count him out yet as we expect him back next week.

Thunder Car saw Todd Musker and Greg Ogilvie battle all night long splitting the heat races and Greg taking the checkered flag.

Legends saw a bigger field with 4 cars coming up from Evan Mills, NY to race at CCS. Thanks go to Taylor Doxater, Joel Hall, Kyle Haferman and Vern Lafave for their long haul up to join us. With favorable reviews from each of them, we hope to see them back again. The night once again belonged to Kevin Foisy who took the triple crown for the nights races.

Mini Stock was a rough one with a number of cars not coming back out during a rough and tumble feature race. The heat wins were one by Dwayne Emon, Tyler Cavanagh with Daryll Gow taking the checkered flag.

Mike Atwill took his second checkered flag of the season with a strong win on the field. Brandon Scott tried real hard to catch him in the final laps making some huge gains on him, but finally ran out of laps.

Fan Appreciation Night was a big hit with the fans as they made their way onto the track at intermission to meet and greet the drivers. Fireworks lit up the sky after the Late Model feature as a little bonus for our fans who came out for Fan Appreciation Night. Thanks to Canadian Tire Carling and Ogilvie for the donation of two bikesd and two fishing rods for our door prizes. We had some happy kids walking out with a new set of wheels.

Overall, another great night in the books at CCS. Join us next week for a 100 lap enduro with Town and Country Chrysler Night.

I hope to see you and all of your friends at the races.
