2012 Schedule
The 2012 Schedule for the stock car program will be completed in the next week or so. The dates are confirmed, but we will fill in the Enduro Nights and other special features.
The 2012 Schedule for the Drifting Practice and Drift Competitions will be up shortly. We are looking to run the Drift practice on Friday nights, and have Drift Competitions once a month, on a Saturday night. The addition of Drifting was successful last year and we plan on expanding on that race program. Stay tuned for more updates as we have them.
The 2012 Schedule for the Drag Track will be up shortly after the Drift schedule has been confirmed. We are very excited about the Drag Program in 2012, and hope to see your support for this. As long as we see cars using this facility, we will keep it open for your racing pleasure. The continuation, and any future investment to the Drag Strip program will be determined by all of you. The plan, as of now is to have the Drag Strip open 3 Saturday nights a month, with the other Saturday night to hold the Drift Competition. We hope to have several car shows and show and shine events to run at that same time as the Drag events.
We are currently looking for Advertsiers who are interested in working with us on the Drift Series or the Drag Series. If you have interest in doing so, please contact Todd Gow at 613-723-7223.

Line Up changes in 2012.
We have changed the line up procedure in all classes this year. All classes will run the feature race the same way the Legends have been running the last couple of years. We will no longer be running the feature on a reverse order of points.
Heat race line ups will be done by the pill pull for position on the first heat race. The second heat will be a reverse of the first heat line up. Feature line ups will be determined by totaling the points from both heat races, and the line up order will be set with most points starting on pole. We will then invert the top cars with the roll of one dice. The inversion will be from 1 to 6 and whatever that number is, will be applied to all classes.
I think this will increase the entertainment value in all classes, decrease some of the carnage, and make things a little more exciting each and every week. We will run the line ups this way to see how things work out. If it does what I think it will, it will stay. If it doesn't, we will revert back.
Please note we will still have the three race rookie rule. This applies to a driver who is new to a class, or new to CCS, even though they may have been driving for years. Some exceptions may apply and will be a judgement call by Management. After your third race, the Race Director will decide if you are qualified to pull for your position. If you are deemed, not ready, you will remain in the scratch position until you are deemed ready.

Car Numbers
All registered drivers from last year will have the right to there car numbers for 2012. Any NEW drivers who wish to reserve a number not already listed under the drivers tab, can do so now for this year. So don't be disappointed and send over your email with a number request. It will be a first come, first served basis. We will not allow any cars to have the same number in the same class.
Barrhaven Auto Centre increases their car count by 1
Greg Ogilvie, owner of the Barrhaven Auto Centre located at 890 Greenbank Road has purchased the old 49 Mini Stock of Casey Cavanagh and will have his cousin, Ryan Foley, driving that ride full time in 2012. Ryan was the back up driver for Casey last year and showed that he can put that car up front when Casey was not able to drive it. Look for Ryan to be a front runner with that car this year, and certainly a contender for the Mini Stock Championship. The Mini Stock class was very tight last year, with Kyle Baker winning the Championship on the last points night, and only by a couple of car lengths.
Both, Greg Ogilvie's Thunder Car and Ryan Foley's Mini Stock will be painted the same in 2012, so look out for these cars. They should both be up at the front somewhere.
If you are looking for a great Automotive Shop, please stop in and help support our local stock car drivers and their business, or just give Greg a call at 613-825-1831.

Car counts on the rise for 2012
I can not say exactly what the reason is, but 2012 should see a much larger car count in every class this year. I know we have several new four for fun cars on the go now. We will have a couple of new and old legends back competing for the Championship. Mike Madore who had some back issues last year will be back in 2012 full time with crew chief Sandy. Brent Egan will be back with his new power plant, and Nolan Gould is getting ready with his new Legend. We hope to see this class back up to the 14 to 16 range as we had a couple of years back. The mini stock class will again be the biggest class with close to 20 cars each and every week.
The best news we have will be the growth in the Thunder Class. The Thunder Class has been a little lite in the last few years, but 2012 will see the biggest car count we have seen in years. That is of course if all of our competitors come back from last year. We know of at least 4, possibly 5 new Thunder Cars coming to race at CCS. This should give us a field of around 14 Thunders. I am very excited to see the growth in this class, and I know I will be even more excited when I get to see these guys race.
We have heard some rumours about a old late model driver coming back for a full season in 2012 and will let you know as soon as that happens. Stay Tuned.

108 Days to Opening Night
It is this time of year when I think most of us start thinking of racing again. Daytona is only weeks away, and so is opening night at Capital City Speedway. Ok, I know 15 weeks is a little bit of a stretch yet, but it is never too early to start working on your car to get it ready for opening night. I have had the privilege to see some cars over the last week and it looks like a lot of guys are making sure they are ready for May 23rd.
If you get a chance let us know how your program is coming, and send us a picture or two with your new look for 2012.

Howards Pawn Shop Signs on for 2012
Capital City Speedway would like to introduce CCS's newest sponsor for 2012. A big thanks to Dave Stinson, our 2011 Thunder Car Champion, for joining us as an advertiser this year. Dave will be back in 2012 to try to reclaim his Championship again. We wish Dave all the best in 2012. So if you are looking to buy, looking to sell or just looking for some cash, drop in and see Dave.
Howards Pawn Shop Ltd. 3005 Carling Ave opened its doors to the public in 1996. In that time, we have grown to the areas largest and most respected Pawn Shop. Small in size, we are large in service, says owner Dave Stinson. Stinson chose the area carefully, realizing that although the location was great, the square footage was small. He credits his success to that fact. Moving product was key to success. So if you are looking for a great deal, Dave, and the staff, are happy to negotiate a win win deal. If you need to borrow money, heck says Stinson.......we have pawned everything from the kitchen sink, up to and including a race car! Howards Pawn Shop 3005 Carling Ave. 613-820-3903 www.HowardsPawnShop.ca Your CA$H IS WAITING!
