Thank you to Everyone for a great Summer Slam
Putting our events together for Summer Slam and for every event all summer takes a lot of help from a number of different people. I could not make this happen by myself, and I want to send a Thank You to all of those individuals who come out and give us a hand each and every week. There are too many names to mention each one, but to all of those people who helped us make it through another season. THANK YOU.
A big THANK YOU to all of our fans who came out during the year and for Summer Slam. We could not do what we do without your continuing support. Each and every year, we try to make your experience at the Speedway more enjoyable and entertaining, and hopefully next year, we can give you and even better show.
I would like to send out a special Thank You to Trevor Hartwick from Stittsville Trailers and Hot Equipment rentals for bringing down his equipment and staff to set up and take down the demolition ring. It is with support like this that CCS can put on these events for all of you. Thanks to Dave Watchorn for all of his help with this event as well.
Summer Slam has been our season ending race for three years now and weather has played a part in the last two. Last year, the event was rescheduled for Sunday which saw a drop in our fan count for the day, and with that in mind we decided to go this year on the Saturday. The weather wasn't promising but we certainly had an opportunity to get in all in. Well, we were almost right. We missed out on the Thunder Car feature and the Mini Stock feature as well. The enduro proceeded in the rain, and I was quite impressed with our fans who stayed all the way through the enduro. I am glad you did because this was one of the best enduro's I have seen.
The twin Late Model features saw us get through the first one with Ken Baird taking the checkered flag, and getting in just over half of the second one before the raing started to come. Steve Munro was leading that race at the time and was declared the winner of the second feature. Stev Munro took home the overall point total for the day with that finish and was declared our Summer Slam Champion. With these points added onto his yearly total also makes Steve Munro our 2013 Points Champion. Shawn Kennedy was a very close second in points.
The Vintage Modifieds saw Paul Billings in victory circle for the first time this year, with Denzil Billings Jr taking the Perkins Lumber Championship for 2013. The Vinatge Modifieds were a great addition to our show this year and we look forward to having them back with us in 2014.
Four for Fun saw Brendan Scott take home the points Championship and Mike Atwell take home the Summer Slam feature win. Brendan will have to move up to Mini Stock next year and a great addition he will be to that class in 2014.
Legends again saw a less than stellar turnout for cars, but still put on a great show with Matt Haufe taking home the feature win and the points championship for 2013. Brad Haufe took home the Semi Pro win and Steve Yendall taking the Masters win.
Casey Cavanagh will be our 2013 Mini Stock Champion. Casey said it has taken him 13 years to actually win a Championship, and I say good things come to those who wait. Nolan Gould finished a close second.
Thunder Car saw a lengthy season long points battle between Todd Musker and Greg Ogilvie, and at the end of the season Todd Musker will once again be our Thunder Car Champion. We will be looking at this class over the winter to see about increasing our car count for 2014. There are a number of cars around and we are going to see if we can get them out for next year.
Congratulations to all of our competitors this year for making 2013 a great season. Thank you for being a part of CCS and for your contributions to keeping CCS open. We could not operate without you and for that - THANK YOU.
A THANK YOU to all of our 2013 track Sponsors. Please support them when you are looking for a specific service. CCS could not operate without their advertising dollars, and if you want to see the track continue to operate, please use them and let them know you are supporting them because they support CCS.

Summer Slam is a GO
Summer Slam is a green light for today. All of the weather stations are telling us the same thing. Less than 1mm of rain today and at best a 50% chance. That means no rain and only a sprinkle at best to me.
So grab an extra coat and your umbrella and head on out to see the best show this year. If you bring your umbrella it will not rain,so throw it in the car. It is usually a little cooler out at the track so throw in an extra blanket or coat to make sure you are comfortable.
We have over 50 cars registered in the enduro now, so come out and see the biggest enduro in years.
I hope to see you at the races.

Weather Update ??
At this point we do not know what is going to happen weather wise tomorrow. It appears to be all over the map, and hour to hour. We will get a better idea later tonight and into the morning. We will make a call about Saturday as early as we can to let everyone know
Lets hope it does not interfere, but if it does we will be running Sunday with the same schedule.
I hope to see you at the races.

Summer Slam is Coming !!!
For some reason Summer Slam has seemed to come fast this year. It seems like we just opened the gates for our Opening Night. That usually is the way of summer. Here one minute and gone the next. Summer Slam is our season ending race, and I for one seem to be wanting more, but I guess it all has to end at some point.
We will be having a fundraiser on Saturday for our friend Shawn Kerr who was recently injured in an industrial accident. Shawn Kerr and Dave Stinson were our 2011 Thunder Car Championship team. More recently, Shawn Kerr has moved from Thunder Cars to become one of our biggest Drag Strip supporters and competitors. Donations will be collected during Summer Slam for the Kerr Family.
The Ottawa 67's Organization had such a great time with us on our "Back to School Night" they have decided they want to be a part of Summer Slam as well. The 67's Street Team will be with us on Saturday along with Riley Raccoon. They will also bring some give aways with them. They have also decided to help out the Kerr Family by offering 67's tickets for sale. Tickets will be available for a cost of $ 15.00 with a portion of each sale being donated to the Kerr Family. The hockey night will be for Friday September 27th. Arrangements can made for a different night.
We will also have our regular giveaways:
Matco Tools will be raffling away a $ 4500. Tool Box. Tickets are $ 5.00 each. 3 for $ 10.00
Scott MacIssac will be there and you can win your chance to qualify for a chance to win a Free trip to Pocono next year to see the NASCAR race.
Kids can win a new electric scooter compliments of Rideau Auctions and Paul's Quality Autos.
Win some 67's giveaways and Capital City Speedway giveaways.
Come on out and watch the biggest show of the year. Racing starts a 3:00 pm.
I hope to see you at the races.

Monster Truck Rides added to Summer Slam
Soul Collector has
been added to the Saturday September 7th show. Soul Collector is a Monster Truck
but what is different about this truck is that it has 6 seats in it. Soul
Collector will be taking kids for a ride through the bush at a cost of $ 15.00
per child. Rides will start at 2:00 and go on throughout the day and into the
early evening. This is one of the very few times this opportunity will happen,
so make sure you come on out and go for a ride.
"Back to School" was the Best so Far
As the season continued from the start to near completion, the show keeps getting better and better each week, and last week was no exception. What a great night it was, both off and on the track. Thanks go to the Ottawa 67's organization for bringing out Riley and some free tickets and other gifts for our fans. Thunder Cat wanted to pass along his apologies for beating Rily in the Golf Cart race. Well not really, but did mention that he would give Riley another chance next year if he did want to take him on again. Thunder is now two for two beating "The Dawg" from 101.9 FM and now Riley. I think Thunder is now getting a little over confident in his racing abilities. He said he would race any and all other mascots and show them how it is done. I think we have created a racing Monster Mascot.
Thanks to all of the fans that came out on Wednesday as it was our biggest attendance night of the year. Lets keep that going and have an even bigger night September 7th for Summer Slam.
It was a great night of racing for all but one race stood out for the Late Model Team of Al Dickie. The Sparks Street Mall sponsored car, driven by Paul DeJong, finally made it to the winners circle. The # 88 Team has struggled this year but finally put all of the pieces together for their first win of the year. Paul started outside pole and jumped into the lead and never looked back. I don't think I have ever seen a happier group in the winners circle.
Well maybe one group. That would be the team of Neil Leblond who took home his first ever Feature win at CCS. Neil has been working hard all season getting his set up right for CCS and learning the track. It all came together for Neil and he showed why he will be a force to be reckoned with again. Neil and his # 88 looked strong all night long and congratulations to him and his team. It was a good night for the cars with # 88.
Brandon looked great again with his little Honda and was back again in the winners circle. Brandon has clinched the Four For Fun Championship and look for him next year in a even bigger mini stock field. By winning the Championship, he must move up a class to Mini Stock next year or retire. I think he is having too much fun to retire, so look for him in Mini Stock next year.
Jason Moss showed that he can compete in Mini Stock after winning the Four For Fun class last year. Jason had to move up this year, and he has showed us he has what it takes, taking his second feature win of the season.
Kevin Foisy took home his triple crown wins for the night with another commanding performance by him. The Legends car count was up for the night with Bob Broad and Nate Plantz coming in to up te numbers. Bob and Nate are welcome additions to the track and we hope to see them back next week again.
Joey Evans made it two in a row Feature wins for the Dirt Sportsman cars, and Dana Aikens wins the point series.
Bl Hawes took home the feature win in Karts and ass well took home The Dinardo's Kart Championship.
Thanks agan to everyone who made it out an we hope to see all of you again this Saturday fr Sumr Slam. Racing starts at 3:00 pm.
