Thanks go out to the Autism Awareness society for their promotion of Capital City Speedway and raising the awareness of Autism.

Wednesday saw some overcast skies but that did not stop us from putting on a great race show.

In Four for Fun, we saw Mike Atwill take the triple crown, taking both features and the feature win. Cory Gates looked like he might take home his first feature win, but a late race pass by Mike saw him take the checkered.

In Mini Stock, Jason Moss took the heat wins with Dwayne Emon getting a huge jump on the field and leading all the way for his first checked flag of 2014.

In Thunder, Neil Leblond took the first heat win and the return of Mike Hennick saw him take home his first heat win of 2014. Mike's car looked fast and I am sure we will see him in the winners circle at some point this year. Neil Leblond drove his # 88 to the winners circle in a great Thunder car race. Keith Riddell looked like he had somehting thsi week with a gret night for Keith. Keith has been working hard on his car to get in faster and it looks like he is now on the right path. Keith finished 2nd in the feature for his best finish of his career. Casey Cavanagh, our points leader, had a rough night with mechanical problems and came out in the feature to pick up some points. Casey and Neil are now tied for 1st place. Look for a great battle from now until the end of the season to see who will be our 2014 Champion. Jessica Passinetti brought out her new Thunder Car for the night, and the first reviews are good. Julio Passinetti says after a few tweaks we should see that car battling for the lead as well. Jess finished with a third in the feature.

Late Models saw some of the greatest racing all night long with a feature race that saw four cars on a string throughout the feature race. Steve Munro took the first heat, Justin Holtom took home the second heat and the luck was with the # 88 teams with the # 88 car of Al Dickie, driven by Paul Dejong, take home his first feature win of 2014. That team has had some issue so far this year, but lets hope we see them again running for the lead. Paul will have  along way to go this week as he has to start at the back of the field this week as a result of winning last week.

The Vintage Modifieds saw the season long battle between Denzil Billings and Paul Billings heat up again as those two battled for the lead throughout the night. Paul took the first heat and Denzil took home the checked in the feature. Two points now separate them for the points lead. Rod Sauder made the long trip up to be with us on Wednesday and look for him to be back with us this year again. Rod had a good run and made things interesting for the Billings with his car in the mix. Rod was fast all night long and ended up in third.

Wednesday saw some other winners for our bike draw and for our tire race at intermission.

Country 101.1 Night June 18th Race Update

The weather was a little better than our past weeks for our Country 101.1 Night. The cars came in as usual getting ready to put their heart and soul into running for the checkered flag.

The Late Model Class saw Tim Kirby and Sean Kennedy take the heat races and Steve Munroe take home the feature.

The Legends once again saw Kevin Foisy take all three races extending his winning streak at CCs this year.

The Thunder class saw the return of Bob Williams in his new Thunder car, unfortunately he got caught up in a spin and crashed into Casey Cavanagh ending his night. Bob is working on getting that car fixed up and returning as soon as possible. Chris MacDonald took home his first win in his Thunder Car Class, with a hard charging Neil Leblond hot on his tail.

Mini Stock had Jason Moss take the feature in his # 12 car. Jason Moss jumps ahead in the points race as he continue his quest to win the mini stock championship for 2014.

The Sportsman class made its debut for the 2014 season with a car count that will certainly increase as the season continues. It was na exciting class to watch and we look forward to seeing them back again with us. Dana Aikins took the first heat win in a close race and Cory Winters took home the first feature win of 2014. Paul Billings finished close behind in both races, but puts him atop the leaders board in points. Currently, we have three cars tied for second spot.

Our Four for Fun class saw Sara Sproule take home her first ever heat win. MIke Atwill took home the second heat and the feature. Mike now is only 6 points out of first place behind Pops MacDonald.

A happy Birthday to two of our staff who celebrated with us on Wednesday Night. Motor Mouth and points scorer Tyler Lacelle had a cake delivered up to the tower. We wish them the best in 2014.

Thanks go out to Ottawa Exotic Car Rental for bringing out their Ferrari as the pace car for the night. Looking to rent an exotic car then give them a call at 613-262-6166

Terry McClelland took home the 8 cylinder class enduro win with Jesse Duguay taking home the win in the 4 cylinder class.

I hope to see you this Wednesday for Myers Motors Night.

Our Condolences go out to the Lefebvre Family.

Capital City Speedway would like to extend its condolences to the Lefebvre Family on the loss of their son Danny Lefebvre during a race at Cornwall Speedway last night. Danny was involved in a crash during the feature race and was airlifted to Ottawa. Our hearts and prayers are with the family and friends of Danny on their sudden loss.

Join us for Country 101.1 Night - This Wednesday June 18th.

It looks like Mother Nature will let us get a race in this Wednesday Night. It is pouring rain as I am writing this, but that's ok, as it is supposed to end soon. The forecast for Wednesday Night is warm and sunny. Lets just hope it stays that way because we have a great line up planned for Country 101.1 Night.

We have the Late Models, Legends, Mini Stock, Thunder, Four for Fun and the Sportsman Modifieds. To cap off the night we have a 100 lap Enduro. If you are a fan of racing, this is one of those nights you will not want to miss.

Come on out and support local stock car racing at Capital City Speedway. The weather will be great warm and the racing will be hot.

I hope to see you at the races tomorrow.

Touch a Truck reached out to some new fans.

Thanks go out to Wally Lynch, Jessica and Julio Pasinetti, Al Dickie and Thunder Cat for making our participation in Ottawa's Touch a Truck a huge success. The gates opened at 10:00 am and the traffic never stopped all day for us at Capital City Speedway. We had several hundred kids come out and get in our race cars today and it was a battle between the fire trucks and us to see who was the most popular attraction. Regardless who won,  it was all for a good cause and we all had fun promoting CCS. It was a beautiful day and the atmosphere was great, and in the end we put a number of smiles on a whole lot of kids faces today. Hopefully, we will see some new families come out this year along with a few new drivers in about 10 years or so.

Wednesday's Race Summary

May 28th saw some cloudy skies, but that did not stop us from putting on another great racing show.

The Late Models split the races with Ken Baird and Sean Kennedy taking the heats and Steve Munro taking the feature and putting him in the win column for the first time this season.

The Legends saw Matt Haufe take the first heat and Kevin Foisy take the second heat and the feature win.

The Mini Stock had Jason Moss take the first heat and Nolan Gould take the second. The two battled it out for an exciting finish with Nolan coming to the finish just ahead of Jason Moss.

The revitalized field of Thunder cars put on a nice race with the larger field of cars this week. The battle ended up being Greg Ogilvie and new comer Casey Cavanagh. Casey won the first heat and Greg taking the second. Casey took his first checkered flag in the Thunder division.

The Vintage Modifieds were down in numbers due to a big show in Brockville, but the racing was still exciting. Denzil Billings and Paul Billings dueled it out all night long with Denzil taking the feature win by about two feet. Watch for this battle to continue all season long.

The four for fun class saw Andrew Thompson get back into the winners circle with his first win of the season. Pops MacDonald and Mike Atwill took home the heat wins.

Week 2 saw some new heat winners and mostly new feature winners as well. The points battles are tight now with 2 points separating most of the top three cars in each class. Join us next Wednesday Night to see who comes out on top.

I hope to see you at the races.
