New Capital City Speedway Pace Car unveiled today at the Parade.

Here is your first look at the new CCS Pace Car for 2012. We are very happy with the look of the car and are very happy with the graphics work which was designed and installed by 53 Colours.

St. Patricks Day Parade a HUGE Success.

We are always looking for opportunities to raise the awareness of Capital City Speedway to the  public. I have never been in a parade before and I don't know if Capital City Speedway has ever been in one either, but what I do know is that having race cars in a Parade, gets lots of attention. That is the impression we got after today. We had lots of comments from people on the street, and lots of " Wow, Capital City Speedway, I haven't been there in years". Sometimes you just have to remind people of how much fun they used to have at Capital City Speedway to get them back again. If we can remind them enough times through Parades and other types of Media, hopefully we will see them again. I know we will see some of our old friends back after today, and hopefully they will bring their children, or grand children with them. If we can do that, we will create a whole new generation of fans, and fans are what we need to keep things going, this year, and for the next several years. I think we started that process today. Thunder Cat was very excited by the fact that he had the opportunity to meet the Mayor of Ottawa today. We had some issues trying to get him home in the car because his head got even bigger than normal.

Making this happen is not possible without help from a number of people. I would like to thank Al Dickie, AJ Dickie, and Nolan Gould for bringing thier cars out to the parade. I would like to thank Sylvia Ferris ( my mom ), Chris Gow, Megan Gow, Mackenzie Gow, Connor Gow and my lovely wife Renata, for helping CCS out in the parade today. Last, but certainly not least, a warm and fuzzy thanks to Thunder Cat for coming out and giving us a hand.

A couple of weeks ago, we did another Car show down at Winterlude.  It is a little late, but I wanted to thank the Holtom Family for bringing down one of their Late Models, Al Dickie for bringing down his Late Model, and Kyle Baker for bringing down his Mini Stock. Thanks to Thunder Cat for making an appearance, and once again, Renata and Mackenzie Gow.

New Schedules Coming Soon.

The dates have been set, and have been sent over to be uploaded on the wepage. Stay tuned for the Drifting Schedule, the Time Attack Schedule and the Drag Schedule. When we first started this process we knew our goal was to make this facility, one that operated throughout the week, and catered to the various motor sports activities and clubs which exist. That will be a reality in 2012. We have a long way to go and will need a lot of help in making that happen. We need to do a number of things to prepare the Drift Track, and the Drag Strip prior to starting these new motor sports venues at Capital City Speedway.

It appears that Mother Nature will help us a little bit as the weather warms up nicely over the next couple of weeks. I was out at the track yesterday and the track has a number of feet to go before we see pavement. With some higher temperatures, and  a little bit of sun, it should not take too long before we can get out there and start working.

We hope to see a number of volunteers out helping to make your venue, whether it is the oval or the 1/8 mile a little better for 2012.

We will keep you apprised of the conditions out there and will let you know when we will need your help to make Capital City Speedway the best it can be..

Capital City Speedway's car count just keeps getting BIGGER

We are so pleased to hear about new cars coming out, and the news got even better today with the addition of two new cars in 2012. This is on top of the already growing list of new cars coming out.
Today, we spoke with two new drivers who have cars in their garage and are waiting anxiously to get out on the track and try their skill and luck on for size. We will fill you in on the names and their info when we have it from them. What I can tell you is that we have one new Mini Stock and one new Legend. As mentioned, these are guys with cars in their shops, so we know we will see them soon.

Our new car count at this point in all classes bodes very well for an exciting 2012 season. With the addition of these new cars, will put us in a car count range we have not seen in over 10 years.

New cars - confirmed

Four for Fun - 2
Mini Stock - 3
Thunder - 4
Legends - 2
Late Model - 2

This gives us a total of 13 new cars from last year. 3 of the 13 are drivers moving up to a different class, but regardless a net change of 10 new cars. I love it and I am sure come race night, you will love it to.

We hope to add a few more before Opening Night, so stay tuned for more news on these new cars and drivers.

Dyno Day Set - May 5th 2012.

Special thanks go out to Len Bertrand at Lentech Motorsports for use of his dyno equipment and staff on Saturday May 5th. This will be a free dyno day for all mini stock and four for fun cars and just to remind all four for fun cars, you must have your car dynoed prior to race night.

Mini stock cars which have not changed anything performance wise since last year do not need to attend. BUT, you will be held to the numbers from last year.  The rules state that on any new dyno from a challenge from another racer or a track challenge, you must be within 5% of the dyno number on file or you will loose all points incurred up to that date.

The date will allow all cars to change their set up with the additional weight and get time to work out the bugs with the added weight prior to opening night.

You must call the office to book your appointment with starting times from 9:00 am. This dyno session is free and subsequent dyno time may be subject to a $ 100 fee.

Lentech Motorsports is located at 3835 McBean Street, Richmond, Ontario

 CLINIC Services

Complete Hearing Evaluation

A certified audiologist will perform a comprehensive battery of tests to determine the health of your auditory system, the status of your hearing and explain the results.
If a hearing loss is identified the audiologist will recommend one of two options. If there is a medical solution you will be referred to your family physician or an Ear, Nose and Throat Specialist. If there is no medical solution a hearing aid will be recommended.

Counseling

We encourage other family members to participate as it is helpful to discuss the hearing loss with everyone concerned. Families and friends must learn new communication tools in order to better live with someone with hearing loss.

Hearing Aid Evaluation

Once a hearing loss has been identified that cannot be medically corrected, a hearing aid will be recommended. The audiologist will make the evaluation based on the hearing loss, lifestyle and needs. Captial Audiology works with all available manufacturers in Canada and only recommends Class 2 Medical Devices.

Hearing Aid Fitting

Unlike eyeglasses, hearing aids are not an instant fit solution. They need to be programmed according to the hearing loss and may require follow-up appointments for further fine tuning. For first time users it may take an adjustment period to get used to all of the new sounds, like living near the airport, your brain needs time to filter out the sounds you don't want versus those you wish to hear.

Eastern Pro Tour coming to Ottawa in 2013?

Last week I was down at the Bonnechere Cup and met with the owners of the Eastern Pro Tour. We have had discussions about bringing the ice racing tour to Capital City Speedway in 2013. Claude will be coming to Ottawa in the next week or so to have a look at our facility to see if we can do something to the concrete walls to make it safe for their drivers. If we can satisfy him it is possible we might see this Tour come to Ottawa. The only stumbling block after that is volunteers to help make an ice track, lots and lots of water, and Corporate Sponsors to help make this happen.
We will keep you informed as this moves along.

Tires

Please note that Capital City Speedway has taken over the tire program for both the Thunder Cars and the Late Models. They can be purchased at the track on race nights or give us a call at 613-723-7223 to make arrangements.

Wea re currently working on being a supplier for the Falcon Tires for Mini Stock. We will notify you when and if this happens,.

2012 Rules Now Posted.

The 2012 Rulebook has now been updated and is now posted under the Rule Tab. There are only minor changes to a number of classes, with the Four for Fun the exception.

We have reviewed a recommendation that came in from Jeff Smith and it will be added to the 2013 Rulebook.. We are looking at all cars adding a steel plate on the drivers side roll cage covering the door area. Currently, some vehicles do not have protection on the door to stop a piercing of the door skin and continuing into the driver. This rule will be mandatory in 2013. ( It is now mandatory in the Thunder Class for 20 gauge. ) The rule will state that a minimum of 16 gauge steel plate will be placed between the outer door skin and the roll cage covering the driver and seat area.

It is highly recommended that you do this now to meet the new rule in 2013 and it is always better to be safer than not.

This rule/recommendation will not apply to the Legend Class as that class is governed by Inex.

New Look for Todd Musker's Thunder Car

One look at the new body for Todd Musker's Thunder Car will answer the question of why we allowed the new bodies in the Thunder Class. This is a 2011 Chevy Camaro body purchased from Ultimate Custom Fiberglass and when the wrap on the car is completed, will look fantastic. Todd is working on some new advertsiers for the car and we will post some new pictures when the car has been completed.
