Lanark Food Bank and Town and Country Chrysler team up with CCS this week.

Lanark Food Bank is a local charity that helps feed needy families in our valley community. This week, in association with Town and Country Chrysler, our goal is to collect as much non perishable food items as we can in support of the Lanark Food Bank. I do not know what it is like to go hungry, and it is hard to imagine that individuals and families in our community do. Town and Country Chrysler, who is our sponsor this week, does a lot of charity and fundraising work for a number of different organizations in the valley. After having a discussion, with Hugh Colton of Town and Country Chrysler we decided that the Lanark Food Bank was a great choice to raise funds and food for this coming Wednesday.

So on behalf of Capital City Speedway, we will donate the proceeds from our weekly 50/50 draw to the Lanark Food Bank and I will personally donate 10 lbs of food to the cause. I challenge all of our fans, drivers, crew members and sponsors to do the same. I hope you all feel as good as I do inside, when together we can make a difference in someones life. In this case, it will make someone not go hungry.

Please bring your non perishable food items with you next week and help make a difference. If you forget, we will be accepting cash in lieu of food. We like the kind that jingles, but we prefer the kind that folds.

Fan Appreciation Night was FANTASTIC !

Thanks to Stittsville Trailers for sponsoring our Fan Appreciation Night, and thanks to Nortrax for coming out with some of their heavy equipment. What a beautiful night for racing, and for our fans to get an opportunity to come onto the track and meet our drivers and see our race cars up close. It was a warm night to watch some hot stock car racing action and our drivers didn't disappoint.

Late Models - Tim Kirby appeared to have the feature in the bag until a yellow flag late in the race caused the field to bunch up again for a 2 lap race to the checkered. Tim Kirby had built up some debris on his tires and when the green flag flew again, Steve Munro who started outside pole took off while Tim spun his tires. That was all Steve Munro needed to take the lead and the checkered flag.

Legends - Kevin Foisy back only one day from running in the Legnds Million Dollar race in Charlotte, North Carolina started back in the field but as the race went on, Kevin moved up lap by lap until he got to the front and when Kevin gets to the front it is a fore gone conclusion that he will not be passed by anyone. Kevin Finished 6th in the Masters Division in Charlotte and could be considered the best Master driver in Canada and he has showed us why with his 6th Feature win at CCS. As good as Mr Foisy is we had some real contenders just behind him. The pack seems to be gettting faster and will continue to challenge Kevin for the remainder of the year.

Thunder - Greg Ogilvie took the Thunder Feature after getting a jump on the rest of the field. Todd Musker and Dave Stinson battled most of the way in second and third, giving Greg a great opportunity to get a lead on both of them. Todd Musker ended up second with Dave Stinson third. Jessica Passinetti had a great night finishing fourth.

Mini Stock - Trevor Hartwick in only his second night out with his new car took his first feature win. I had spoke with Trevor earlier in the day and he had said to me that if he was only going to win one race, this was the one he wanted to win. Well he did just that. Trevor had a smile on his face that will not go away for at least a week. It was one of those feel good moments and I was happy to be there to see it. I don't think this will be the only win by Trevor this year, but they will not compare to his first win on Stittsville Trailers Night.

Four for Fun - Soon this will be called the AJ Dickie class, as AJ keeps picking up the hardware each and every week. Jason Moss came close a number of times but could not make that final pass to take the lead.

Thanks goes out to Al Dickie of AD Motorsports and Canadian Tire - Carling Ave for their donation of the bikes for the draw. We had some happy faces leaving the track with their new bikes.

Drag Strip Open Tonight

The Drag Strip is not completely finished yet, and the timing system is in but not installed, but we will open tonight for some good old fashion arm drop racing. The track is still green so it will help to get some rubber down on it. We still have work to do to get it to where we want it to be and those improvements will continue over the next few weeks.

The cost for tonight will be $ 15.00 and we will open at 6:00 pm and run until 10:30

Mother Nature gives us with a Great One for Fan Appreciation Night.

The weather could not be better for Stittsville Trailers  Fan Appreciation Night. Gather up the family and head on out to catch some of the best stock car racing around. Tonight you will be able to go onto the track at intermission and meet our drivers and see the cars up close. Fan Appreciation Night is one of our best nights so make sure you are there to take part.

The Vintage Mods Are Coming to Capital City Speedway.

The Eastern Ontario Vintage Stock Car Club will be making three visits to Capital City Speedway this year. We had some of the club members out this year with us to practice and all of them went away with great things to say about the track and how much fun they had on it. Once we found out that there was some interest in racing CCS this year, we have been working on setting dates for them. I was down at Brockville Speedway on Saturday and spoke with Paul Billings who runs a Vintage Mod and he said that Mary-Ann Gibson, who is the President of the club, had set some dates for us, and she has confirmed three dates for 2012.

Capital City Speedway is pleased to announce that the Ontario Vintage Stock Car Club will be racing with us on July 25th, August 15th and September 8th, 2012. Make sure you mark these on your calender because you will not want to miss these nights.

AD Motorsports and Canadian Tire Donate Bikes for Fan Appreciation Night

AD Motorsports operated by Al Dickie and Linda Pullis of Canadian Tire on Carling Ave have teamed up for this Wednesday to make two kids very happy. AD Motorsports and Canadian Tire on Carling Ave have donated two bikes to give away this Wednesday Night. This Wednesday is Stittsville Trailers Fan Appreciation Night and what a great night to say thank you to our fans by giving away two bikes. Make sure you are there to get your ticket for a chance to win one of these two bikes. We have a girls bike and a boys bike, and all children 12 and under will receive one ticket for a chance to win. We will have girl tickets and boy tickets and they will be given out when you come in the gate.

For the adults, we have a free security system draw compliments of Security Connection. Chris MacDonald, the owner of Security Connection, won the Mini Stock feature last week and when that happens Security Connection gives away a Free Security System. That prize will be given away this week. Make sure that you enter your name to win this free alarm system. There are ballots attached to the advertisers wall across from the canteen. You can complete the ballot and drop it off in the yellow box located next to the ballots.
