Trevor Hartwick - Driver Pofile

Trevor Hartwick, from Stittsville Trailers, has made it clear he will be back to take a run at the Mini Stock Championship in 2013. Trevor made some good progress with his racing program last year, winning Stittsville Trailers Night and is hoping to take the checkered flag a few more times in 2013.

The # 13 Mini Stock is sponsored by:

Trevor Hartwick raced in the Thunder Class before jumping back into the Mini Stock class last year after taking a couple of years off. Trevor has re built the car after doing his impression of an airplane in his car late last year. We welcome Trevor back again in 2013.

Driver Profile - Jessica Pasinetti

Jessica Pasinetti and Julio Pasinetti will be back with their Chev Malibu trying to better their 2012 finish. Julio is optimistic that with the Thunder Car rule changes, Jessica will be more competitive this year and will be running in the lead pack.

Sponsors:SFL Metal works, Nepean Kanata (NK) Locksmiths,  Proserv, Flux Lighting, Security Connection, and Fahey Electric

Bio: My career as a racer started at the age of seven. My father, Julio, was a racer all his life, the classic story of the young boy who would sneak into the facility for lack of money and admire all the drivers. When of age he had all sorts of cars, and competed in all sorts of classes. Once he had his children he quit the scene just to get back into it. When I was seven I got my first go- kart and when I turned eight I was right in there with all the others. I moved my way up through the classes in the NCKC club and finish in the senior light class, once I turned fifteen I jumped into my first stock car: a bright red Cavalier. This is probably the least racy car you could think of; however it was reliable and fast, I raced in the 4- 4 fun class. We had many second place finishes, but never managed to get to the top.
After a year in that class we moved up to the next class and bought a Neon. We stayed in Mini Stock for two years and had lots of success, including first woman to win a race, youngest person to win a race (at the age of 16), as well as most improved driver. When in this class, we went to an out of town race in Peterborough. In my first race I lead the entire thing and in the last corner on the last lap I was caught by the track champion who had not been beaten or challenged for a long time until we came. Just as I got comfortable with that car, my dad suggested moving up.

How could you turn that opportunity down, it was the chance to go to a faster car with more experienced racers. So our next challenge; Thunder Car. I drove a 1987 Monte Carlo SS. In this class I had to earn my respect, since I was racing against a tight knit family, most of them had been driving together for several years before. I was the odd one out, a small, young woman against a field of matured men over the age of 30. Here we won Rookie of the year, in which I believe we earn a little respect.
This is my passion, my sport and I would love to invite you into seeing this adrenaline and testosterone filled world through my eyes.

Thanks for reading, and thank you for the support.

Drag Strip News

Here is your first look at the new Capital City S & W Dragster that will be a part of CCS Dragway in 2013. This will be our new show car, spreading the word about our new Dragstrip. It will be there on Wednesday and Friday Nights, making a few runs to showcase the Drag Strip. It has a big block 440 Mopar on alcohol, and should run the 1/8 in the 5 teens. The tentative name for this car now is "Chevy Killer". (lol). Watch for this car around town.

Our Saturday Night Shootout Series registration is still on going and we are still looking for interested parties to sign up for this series. If this series is to get off the ground, we do need interested parties to give me a call and get registered. We are about a third of the way there now, to where we need to be to make this happen. If we do not have sufficient interest, the series will be dropped. If you want to be a part of the Saturday Night Drag Series, please give me a call at 613-723-7223, or email me at todd@gowproperties.ca

We currently have 8 Open cars registered, 3 Street, and 2 Jr. Dragster. We do need about 32 registered cars to make this work, so talk to your friends and get them to sign up now.

I have spoken with our website designer and we should have our new look website in a few weeks. Watch for it.

We are looking for some old used drag tires to drag the track. If you have an old set you would like to donate, please let me know. We will be trying to improve the traction on the track this year, and we will need these to put some more rubber down on the track.

Howards Pawn Shop is back for 2013

Capital City Speedway would like to welcome Howards Pawn Shop back as an advertiser for our 2013 season. Dave Stinson has been a supporter of CCS for many years and came on board last year as an advertiser with us. Dave has thrown his support our way again this year and for that we say " Thank You ". CCS could not operate without our Corporate Advertisers and it is great to see Howards Pawn Shop back again. If you are in the market to buy something, sell something, need some quick money or looking to sell some gold, Howrds Pawn Shop should be your next stop. Stop in and see Dave and I am sure he can do something for you.

Howards Pawn Shop Ltd. 3005 Carling Ave opened its doors to the public in 1996. In that time, we have grown to the areas largest and most respected Pawn Shop. Small in size, we are large in service, says owner Dave Stinson. Stinson chose the area carefully, realizing that although the location was great, the square footage was small. He credits his success to that fact. Moving product was key to success. So if you are looking for a great deal, Dave, and the staff, are happy to negotiate a win win deal. If you need to borrow money, heck says Stinson.......we have pawned everything from the kitchen sink, up to and including a race car! Howards Pawn Shop 3005 Carling Ave. 613-820-3903 www.HowardsPawnShop.ca Your CA$H IS WAITING!

Thunder Car Shock Rule Now In.

After a long and lengthy look at coming out with a shock rule, we have decided not to come out with a spec shock rule. We have limited the shock rule to encompass a variety of shocks, with price being the defining rule. This gives teams a range of options available to them, but will still keep things competitive on the track.

The new shock rule will be as follows:

1. No rebuild able shocks will be allowed.
2. Regular retail value of the shock must be below $ 85.00. Hst can be added on top of this amount.   No sale price shocks will be allowed.
3. No shock stops will be allowed. This means if we pull your shock, the shock must be able to travel its full range. They must collapse and extend fully
4. Heims will be allowed for mounting purposes.
Recommended shocks are the # 12 Afco shock or the WB Pro shock series, but that will be your call.

Gary Moorehead and "The Mouse House"coming out of retirement ?

I just got off the phone with Gary Moorehead, one of our good friends from Arnprior, who is one of our biggest Dragway Fans and supporters. Gary is very excited about where we are going with the Drag Strip, so much so, that he is contemplating bringing his Drag Car out of storage.

The " Mouse House " is a 1969 Camaro that last raced at Luskville and won the Pro ET event. That was in 1980, and has been in storage since.

Gary Moorehead says  "It may be time to evict the mice living in it now, put in a fresh motor, which is over at West Carleton Automotive now, and bring it back out and have some fun"

Gary will keep us informed on his progress, so stay tuned.

CP Tire " Lays Down some Rubber " for CCS Dragway

CP Tire, owned by Wayne and Paul Luciano, has joined Capital City Dragway as one of its first advertisers for the drag strip in 2013. Paul is a drag racer at heart and has already signed up his 1967 Chevy Camaro with its 498 Big Block Chevy to be a part of our Saturday Shootout Series.

Paul had made it quite clear early on, if we were going to do it right he wanted to be a part of it, and after the success of 2012, Paul and CP Tire will be a part again in 2013. Paul is looking forward to bringing out his Camaro and laying down some rubber again this year, and hopefully adding a Championship to his portfolio of accomplishments.

Please support those who support us, - If you are looking for a new set of Drag Tires, among other things, please give Paul a call and put your order in. Paul can be reached at 613-257-1528
