Capital City Speedway will not be going ahead with the Thunder in the Pines 200. There has been some interest in it but not near enough to make it work. I want to thank all of our enduro drivers who expressed interest in having this type of event at CCS. It has shown us that our enduro drivers want to have more events at CCS, and we have heard you. We will be looking at our 2014 schedule over the next few weeks and we will be looking at holding more events for our enduro drivers. This time unfortunately, it was not part of our schedule and to make an event on short notice does not bode well for car counts, nor for a chance to reach a break even point for CCS. The costs involved in opening the track with staff, insurance and ambulance make it difficult to go ahead with this event with our current registrations. Even if we add a number of late entries and then add a number of entries on race day, we are still only about half of the car count we would need to make this race a success.
The good news is that moving forward we will try to add more events in 2014 for our enduro friends. Look for the Thunder in the Pines 200 on the schedule for next year along with possibly some other enduro events throughout the summer.
Thank you again for your interest and support of Capital City Speedway.
what are the possiblilites of a weekly or bi weekly enduro series? with a point fund perhaps. it would be a great addition in my opinion.
