Dirt Sportsman Series Back in 2014

Capital City Speedway is pleased to announce that we will be running the Dirt Sportsman Series again in 2014. Last year, we introduced this series to Capital City Speedway and are looking forward to growing this class in 2014. We will be running the Dirt Sportsman June 18th, July 9th, July 30th, August 20th and on Summer Slam September 13th.

In 2013, we introduced this class as an introductory class and would like to see higher car counts this year. The response we received from the drivers was positive and we are hoping to build on that success to make this class even bigger this year. If you got a chance to see them last year, you can see why we want them back. They put on a great show and the racing is quite entertaining. Stay tuned for further developments on this class as we are looking at weekly payouts and are looking for cars to come out and be a part of this series.

If you have a Dirt Sportsman and are interested in coming to CCS in 2014, please give Todd a call.

We are looking for a class sponsor for this division and if you are interested in becoming a sponsor, please contact Todd Gow at 613-723-7223

Interstate Batteries "Give us a Charge in 2014"

Capital City Speedway is pleased to announce that Interstate batteries has returned in 2014 as an Advertiser and a Title Rights Holder. Interstate Battery Night is scheduled for August 20. James Locke, the local distributor, is pleased to be back with CCS and is looking forward to being part of Capital City Speedway once again.

In my discussions with James Locke, and learning about his company, I was surprised to learn that Interstate Batteries does much more than sell car and truck batteries. They have a division called the "Interstate All Battery Center", which sells every type of battery you will ever need. If you have something which requires a battery, Interstate All Battery Center is the business you need to call. James Locke can be reached at 6136-613-798-9700.

Vintage Modifieds are Back with Us in 2014

Certainly one of the most entertaining classes to watch last year was the Vintage Modifieds. 2014 will be even better as we expect an even large class of drivers this year. We have seen some shrinkage in some of our classes in car counts  and it will be great to see the Vintage Modifieds Class getting bigger this year. What is also getting bigger is the number of times we will see the Vintage Modifieds this year. In 2014 they will be with us six times, up from five in 2013. Mark you calenders for May 29th, June 4th and 25th, July 6th and August 13th and on Summer Slam September 13.

Watch the Billings clan fight it out for the 2014 Championship run, along with a few new faces. The rumour mill says we will see a few new cars with eyes on taking the trophy from Steve Billings in 2014.

Join us once again this summer and watch some old school racing Vintage Modified style at Capital City Speedway.

Thanks go out to all of our Vintage Modified drivers who wanted to make Capital City Speedway part of their schedule in 2014.

I hope to see you at the races in 2014.

Howards Pawn Shop "Goes for the Gold" with CCS

Capital City Speedway would like to welcome Howards Pawn Shop back as an advertiser for our 2014 season. Dave Stinson has been a supporter of CCS for many years and came on board 2 years ago as an advertiser with us. Dave has thrown his support our way again this year and for that we say " Thank You ". CCS could not operate without our Corporate Advertisers and it is great to see Howards Pawn Shop back again. If you are in the market to buy something, sell something, need some quick money or looking to sell some gold, Howards Pawn Shop should be your next stop. Stop in and see Dave and I am sure he can do something for you.

Howards Pawn Shop Ltd. 3005 Carling Ave opened its doors to the public in 1996. In that time, we have grown to the areas largest and most respected Pawn Shop. Small in size, we are large in service, says owner Dave Stinson. Stinson chose the area carefully, realizing that although the location was great, the square footage was small. He credits his success to that fact. Moving product was key to success. So if you are looking for a great deal, Dave, and the staff, are happy to negotiate a win win deal. If you need to borrow money, heck says Stinson.......we have pawned everything from the kitchen sink, up to and including a race car! Sleemans Brewery "Serves Up" CCS in 2014

Capital City Speedway is pleased to announce that Sleeman's Breweries will be the official beer provider for CCS in 2014. Sleeman Breweries has been around since 1834 and has been providing great beer since then, and this year we will be serving it up at Capital City Speedway. Along with Sleemans Original Draught, Sleeman's Light, Sleeman's Clear and Pabst Blue Ribbon, we will see perhaps a few more of the Sleeman's line up this year. Sleeman's has a large variety of beers to choose from and we will look at bringing in a few different things throughout the year. Dos Equis Lager is one of them. "Stay Thirsty my Friends. "

Original Draught combines Sleeman’s premium brewing heritage with the freshness and sociability of traditional draught beer. This unpasteurized lager goes down well in the company of friends. With its golden colour and concentrated white foam collar, Original Draught is well balanced and easy to drink. In this particular lager you’ll notice a distinctive floral hop aroma with a refreshing finish.

With an increasing number of Canadians began asking for a light beer that didn’t compromise on premium taste, Sleeman answered. And that answer was Sleeman light. The first thing you’ll appreciate is its beautiful light gold colour and dense white foam. Next you’ll notice an exceptionally smooth body with hints of fresh citrus, which gives way to a subtle malt character and ends in a very clean finish.

Thanks to Sleeman's for joining our team this year and if you are heading out to the beer store anytime soon, don't forget to pick up some Sleeman's to see which one  you are going to order this summer at the track.

We would like to express our thanks to Orville and Trevor Hartwick for their continuing support of Capital City Speedway. Stittsville Trailers and the Hartwick Family have been longtime supporters of Capital City Speedway and without their ongoing commitment to Capital City Speedway, and our other supporters, I don't think the facility would be open today. Please support those companies that help us out each and every year. All you need to do to help our cause is drop into one of our advertisers and use their services when you need to make a purchase. Don't forget to tell them "Thank You" for their support of Capital City Speedway

1st Annual " CCS Summer Sizzler" to be run on July 5th.

Capital City Speedway is pleased to announce that July 5th will be one of the best shows to hit CCS in a long time. It will be a triple bill of sorts with the OSCAAR Modifieds making their first appearance at CCS. Capital City used to run the Modifieds years ago, and if you saw them run back then, you know how exciting this show is going to be.

We will also have the Lucas Oil Sportsman Series coming to run a 100 Lap race. This will be the first time they have been here since 2009. We will see some of our local sportsman guys racing in this series and we hope to confirm the names for you over the next couple of weeks.

Third on the bill is the Revstar SRT Series. This is a touring series out of Quebec and they can be compared to a mini Sprint car. They run a 2.4L Mopar engine and look like they will put on a great show.

To fill the bill out on this show we will have a 100 Lap Enduro to close out what will be an excellent show. The support the Enduro drivers have shown us over the last couple of years has enabled us to include them in a few more shows this year. Enduro drivers have asked for more dates and what better way than to include them in one of our biggest shows ever.

This will be an afternoon show with ongoing discussions as to the start time. When we have that set in stone we will post the start time and more information as it becomes available. Just make sure you mark your calender now for July 5th and we will see you at the races. One of the reasons we have decided to put on a couple of big shows this year has been the tremendous fan support we have received over the last couple of years. We hope this trend will continue this year and from all of us here at CCS we would like to Thank You for your continuing support of our facility.

Please note the Title Rights for this race are available for purchase, so if you want to become an advertiser with us in 2014, why not start with one of the biggest shows of the year. For further information please call Todd Gow at 613-723-7223.

Did I mention that this will be one of the biggest shows of the year. We are working on another one now that will be a "Monster of a Show" hopefully sometime in August. Stay Tuned for future developments on that show.

Drummonds Gas is "Pumped Up" for 2014

Drummonds Gas has joined us once again as the Late Model Title Rights Holder for 2014. The Drummond Family has had a long relationship with stock car racing in Ottawa going back to the early days of stock car racing with George Drummond at Landsdowne park in the late 50's. Russell Drummond ran a stock car for a number of years with Mike Glinski as the driver for a period at CCS as well. They were also involved back with the CASCAR series which faded away and was reborn with the creation of the Sportsman Series. When you talk about Stock Car racing in Ottawa and even across Ontario years ago, the Drummond Family has been involved in some aspect. Their presence in stock car racing increased locally again in 2006 with the purchase of Capital City Speedway. I do not know where we would be without their support and continuing support once again in 2014.

One way we can help support them is by stopping in at one of their local gas stations and filling up your gas tank with some of their gas. If you need some gas, please support Capital City Speedway and Drummonds Gas by buying your Gas with them.

If you need Gas at one of your job sites, then they will even come to you.

Help keep our advertisers coming back to CCS year after year and support those who support us. Don't forget to let them know that you are there supporting them because of their support for CCS.

Thanks once again to the Drummond Family for their ongoing support of Capital City Speedway.

I hope to see you at the races, and filling up at a Drummond's Gas station.

2014 Season is Just around the Corner

There is not much to write about this time of year as Christmas and New Years take up most of every ones time and money. I hope Santa brought you something nice to use on your stock car for our 2014 season. With only about 134 days to go to the start of another season, time will start slowly and then pick up steam and it will be here before you know it. We have lots of work to do before then to try and make 2014 even bigger and better than 2013.

Over the last three years things have taken shape and every year we have better turnouts and better support for the track. For things to continue to get better this year, we need people to get into stock cars and help increase our car counts in all classes. We have a number of stock cars sitting around and not making it to the track each and every week. The Gow Family has worked hard making improvements to the facility and the entertainment value offered at CCS, but at the end of the day we need to see new stock cars making their way out to the track.

If youever have had a dream that one day you would get into a stock car, well now is the time to make that a reality. With your help, we have made CCS financially stable, but there is a long way to go to make sure that it stays around for many years to come. We need to continue on the gains we have made and cannot do it without your continued help and support. You can support CCS in 2014 in so many ways.... Get into stock car racing,  bring out your stock car to help support our car counts, become an advertiser at the track, organize a group day for your office or business or just come on out to one of our events and buy a ticket. The Gow Family will continue the rebuilding process of CCS as long as there is enough support to continue our journey. Join our mission to make it on of the best motorsport facilities around.

If you have any news on any new cars and drivers coming out for our 2014 season, or news on your racing program we can share with everyone, please drop me a line at todd@gowproperties.ca or give us a call at 613-723-7223. Please let me know if you have any questions on how you can participate in our 2014 season.

Thanks and Happy New Year to all of our supporters, drivers, car owners, advertisers and fans.

2013 Season Ends, and 2014 Plans are Underway.

A BIG THANKS goes out to all our our drivers, staff, fans and advertisers for a great 2013 Season. Capital City Speedway could not work without all of you and we do appreciate your contributions to making it work. 2013 was the first year were we ended up in the black, and did not lose money in the operation of the track. After three consecutive seasons, in 2012, 2011, and 2010, of the track losing money it is sure nice to see CCS in the positive side of the balance sheet.. Unfortunately, the positive side was just only, but enough to keep us trying to bring CCS back to a financially viable position.

We are pleased to announce that CCS will be back and open for business in 2014. We still have a long way to go in 2014 to get to where we need to be to continue the long history of stock car racing in Ottawa, but with your help and support I know we can make that happen. The progress we have made over the last three years dictates that we must continue our efforts to make sure that CCS stays around for a while longer. I hope we have your support in 2014 as well.

My wife Renata and I are off for a little holiday and things will start again after our return. Stay tuned for more in two weeks.

Thunder in the PInes 200 is a No Go.

Capital City Speedway will not be going ahead with the Thunder in the Pines 200. There has been some interest in it but not near enough to make it work. I want to thank all of our enduro drivers who expressed interest in having this type of event at CCS. It has shown us that our enduro drivers want to have more events at CCS, and we have heard you. We will be looking at our 2014 schedule over the next few weeks and we will be looking at holding more events for our enduro drivers. This time unfortunately, it was not part of our schedule and to make an event on short notice does not bode well for car counts, nor for a chance to reach a break even point for CCS. The costs involved in opening the track with staff, insurance and ambulance make it difficult to go ahead with this event with our current registrations. Even if we add a number of late entries and then add a number of entries on race day, we are still only about half of the car count we would need to make this race a success.

The good news is that moving forward we will try to add more events in 2014 for our enduro friends. Look for the Thunder in the Pines 200 on the schedule for next year along with possibly some other enduro events throughout the summer.

Thank you again for your interest and support of Capital City Speedway.
