It is hard to believe that the Stock Car Season has come to an end. It seems only yesterday that we were painting the stands and getting ready for our 51st season. As it is with all good things, they must come to an end. The season ended on a high note with new champions named in each car class. The Monster Trucks were out and put on a show for all those who attended. The Vintage Modifieds always put on a great show and Saturday's race was what the fans wanted - an exciting race, and the Vintage Mod's didn't disappoint. We will be talking with them again shortly about scheduling them next year to hopefully see them multiple times again in 2013.
The twin Late Model races were some of the better races seen all year. Justin Holtom ended up winning both features and the overall night, making him the Late Model Summer Slam Champion. With these wins and the points associated with them, made Justin Holtom the Capital City Speedway Late Model Champion for 2012.
The Thunder car field was lower than expected, but in the end Greg Ogilvie took the checkered flag and the Summer Slam Title for 2012. Congratulations to Todd Musker who took home the 2012 Thunder Car Championship after having a great 2012 season.
The Legend field put on a great show and when the dust had settled we saw a few new faces in the winners corner. AS this was a National Qualifier Race, we had winners in each class. The Masters winner was Bob Sugrue, and winners of the Semi Pro and Pro drivers class were the Haufe brothers, Matt and Brad.
The Mini Stock field had a few new faces in the group this week and by far the best car count of the day.Chris MacDonald from Security Connection, took home the feature win and the Mini Stock Championship for 2012.
Jason Moss showed why he will be ready for Mini Stock next year, by winning the Summer Slam Feature and the Four for Fun Championship. Rules state that the Champion of this class must move up to mini stock if they win the Championship. Look for Jason Moss to make some waves in the Mini Stock class next year. We are looking for new Four for Fun cars to come out in 2013, as we will loose two drivers next year as AJ Dickie has already made the move up with his new car.
The 100 Lap enduro finished off the night with Dave Quinton taking home another 4 cylinder win in his car. Gilles Melanson took home his first win with his car in the 8 cylinder field.
Thanks to all of you who attended this race, and all of you who came to the track this season. We cannot do this without your support and for that, I thank you. Mark your calender for Opening Night 2013 which will be held on May 29th, 2013.
I hope to see you at the races in 2013.
Can we have full results of sunday races?!?
