" Up to Speed "

Opening Night for 2014 saw some great racing through all of the classes on hand.

The Thunder class saw some opening night problems as the car count dropped as we went through the night. The new truck of Mr. Leblond saw some mechanical issues from the get go and didn't make the first heat. Neil Leblond made it to the feature but a blown clutch which happened earlier in the night took the green flag and headed into the pits. Neil came out to get last place points and keep him in the hunt for the 2014 championship. Chris MacDonald had issues as well which kept him from the feature. Keith Riddell had master cylinder issues which kept him from competing all night and Bob Williams had brake issues that were not fixed in time to make it to the track. In the feature race of the night Mike Hennick took the lead early, but his car looked lose all night long and it didn't take too long for past Thunder Champion Greg Ogilvie to catch him and win his first feature of 2014. Thunder car rookie Casey Cavanagh had a great showing in his first Thunder car race posting the first heat race win and finishing second in the feature. Look for more from Casey as the year goes along. Look for a much bigger Thunder Car field this week.

Pops MacDonald took home his first feature win of 2014 after a good battle with the Mike Atwell in the Four for Fun Class. Look for some new cars coming over the next few weeks.

Late Model action saw three winners last night with Sean Kennedy taking the first heat, Steve Munro taking the second and Justin Holtom winning the feature race. Sometimes being lucky is all you need to win a race and that was the case on Wednesday Night. Ken Baird was leading the race with Steve Munro all over him. The two lead cars ended up spinning with Tim Kirby right behind, and all three ended up to the back of the pack for the green white checkered. Justin moved up from fourth to take the green on the restart and held off a hard charging Sean Kennedy to take the win.

Mini Stock saw a good car count and some exciting racing all night long. Kyler Baker and his little Honda that could took the lead in the feature and never gave it up to a close second # 12 car of Jason Moss. The two were close all night long and are currently tied for 1st place in points.

Legends saw the return of Kevin Foisy and his triple crown wins for the night. Matt Haufe and Brian Saunders never let him get away from them but in the end it was Kevin Foisy for the win. Kyle Cybinski showed well with his first run at CCS. Look for another Legend coming out this week with Rookie Charlotte Lalonde behind the wheel.

This Wednesday watch all of the exciting racing action at CCS and our first visit by the Vintage Modifieds. It will be a great show.

I hope to see you at the races.
