"Up to Speed"

As we get closer to opening night, we are hearing the rumours on new cars coming out in 2011. One such rumour that was relayed to me again today, was about 2 new Thunder cars coming out of Quebec. With the demise of Edelweiss, the rumour is a couple of the thunder cars there will be trying asphalt this season. I will let you know when I get confirmation and the details from these drivers.

If everything goes as well as the rumour mill says, Capital City Speedway will see the most Late Models on a weekly basis than it has seen for decades. I must say that I am  giddy writing this.  To get the opportunity to see more than 12 late Models on the track each and every week is truly a treat. This year "The Thunder in the Pines" will be back and it will be a show you will not want to miss.

If we look at overall car counts, Capital City Speedway in 2011, will field the most cars each week than has ever been seen before. That says alot about the love of stock car racing in Ottawa. I want everyone to know that this year, Capital City Speedway will offer the best entertainment value around.

We are pleased with the progress of the Four for Fun class so far. When I took over CCS, it was important to me to continue this class as it gives people a great place to start. One such person will be Connor Gow. If you remember, Connor drove the Bandolero last year and unfortunately after his most recent growth spurt, has now outgrown it. We have bought him a car and he will be practising until he gets comfortable with it, and up to speed with the class. When that happens he will be out every race night.

Rumour has it that there will be a new Dawg at Capital City Speedway this year. Stay tuned for more details.

I was at the track on Tuesday and am I happy to report that all the snow is off the track. The pits and parking lot still had some water but I am sure it is close to being gone. Rain slated for Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, so a pretty good chance it will all fill up again. We are looking at starting practice sessions in the next couple of weeks so, if you car isn't finished yet, you had better get a move on.

Painting and Landscaping are expected to start in the next few weeks as well. I will make an announcement when we are ready to go and would ask everyone to come out and give us a hand. The more volunteers we have, the less work we each will have to do.
